Someone explain to me why there isn't a Disney+ show simply called Stormtrooper where every character is a Stormtrooper and the whole show is about how sh*t it is to be a Stormtrooper. Endless available plotlines; first truly legitimately funny Star Wars show; would watch the hell out of it. 10/10.

Los Angeles school worker shares frustration over parents having to leave their children’s graduation ceremony because ICE raided an elementary school’s graduation today

I loathe Musk as much as anyone else but for a sitting president to openly threaten a private citizen over what political donations he or she chooses to make is a reminder of how authoritarian this country is becoming by the day - by the hour even!

Freedom Academy substack by @asharangappa.bsky.social is always worth a read, but especially this one on the Garcia case👀 asharangappa.substack.com/p/friday-rou...

This is so wrong. All to feed the ego of a mad tyrant who never had the balls to serve. This is not what we do in America. This is so fucking wrong. Makes me so sad. And so angry.👇

Pete Hesgeth — who wants to rename the Navy ship that honors Medgar Evers, a WWII veteran who landed on Omaha Beach — is using that same beach for a photo op in which he promises we will “never forget” the veterans there. What an unbelievable asshole.

This seems like a great day to remind Bluesky that Stephen Miller lived four doors down from me freshman year And our student council person asked him (and everyone) to sign a birthday card for our dorm’s janitor And he threw a tantrum and wrote an op-ed about not socializing with “the help.”

I suspect that like many things with this admin, this is a way to seed a narrative and they may not even see it all the way through (how can they with sloppiness like the below?). But it’s enough for Fox, and even if they later drop it they can deport him again through regular removal proceedings

Something tells me that when the Deputy Chief of Staff at DHS tweets to his 1.3M followers that Abrego Garcia is a criminal terrorist monster who will serve a long prison sentence, that might taint the jury pool. @aclu.org

So it seems like Bukele *is* willing to release detainees if there are pending proceedings in the U.S. The habeas/due process the courts have ordered for the Venezuelans are pending proceedings. So when are they coming back

Please learn to read. I said if this is what gets him back to the U.S., then so be it. And yes, I’d rather have him be on trial here in the U.S. and have due process protections and the opportunity to defend himself over rotting in an El Salvadoran gulag for the rest of his life.

Wow. What a sign that criminal case against Abrego Garcia may be politically cooked up. "Schrader’s resignation was prompted by concerns that the case was being pursued for political reasons" Schrader spent 15 years in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Nashville and was chief of the criminal division

DOJ as we have known it, as a place where prosecutors from the AG on down do the right thing, for the right reason, in the right way, is over.

"The decision to pursue the indictment against Abrego Garcia led to the abrupt departure of Ben Schrader, a high-ranking federal prosecutor in Tennessee...Schrader’s resignation was prompted by concerns that the case was being pursued for political reasons, the sources said."

When the administration tries to use these charges to say that his deportation was always justified, keep this in mind—they didn't even open the investigation until weeks after he was deported to be jailed in the CECOT prison

The criminal charges should be, and will be, subjected to extreme scrutiny. As should the particular ICE agents and AUSAs supporting them.

"The decision to pursue the indictment against Abrego Garcia led to the departure of Ben Schrader, a federal prosecutor. Schrader’s resignation was prompted by concerns that the case was being pursued for political reasons. Schrader spent 15 years in the U.S. Attorney's Office in Nashville."

There wasn't going to be a resolution of this where Abrego Garcia went right back to ordinary life in Maryland with a path to potential citizenship. We demanded his return so he could receive due process and contest allegations before his ability to remain here was determined. That now will happen.

If Abrego Garcia committed a crime, he should be charged and tried. I wondered reading this headline why they didn't just do this in the first place, and then read the article to discover that they only began the investigation in April, after he was deported.

Saturday night live should basically cold open with the cast looking out from a set of the oval office, pausing, shrugging, and saying: “Nothing. We’ve got nothing.”

This guy consistently posts songs with incredible lyrics mere hours after events unfurl. This was a good one.

This is America now

Illinois Congresswoman and notorious bigot Mary Miller posted an Islamophobic tweet this morning, realized she had made a mistake, and then posted an anti-Sikh tweet. She has since deleted the anti-Sikh tweet.

Roses are red Litter will clump

We don’t need to back off the American Gestapo and we don’t need to respect its agents. People exercising state violence are not entitled to anonymity. Nor are the people directing the state violence.

when I’m asked about my ex:

Trump’s grandfather also tried to go BACK to Germany, because his new wife, who didn’t speak English, hated it here. But he dodged the draft and was persona non grata. So he came back to the U.S., and we took him. And here we are

Does Stephen Miller's wife still get to work with Elon Musk or not? Hella awkward and juicy.

One thing I said in my AMA is that whichever of the two seeks to deescalate first is likely the one most afraid of what the other can do or what the other knows. Want to know when the back-and-forth ended *immediately* today? When Musk learned that Trump was looking into his immigration paperwork.

I'm just glad one of these men has the nuclear codes and the other has all our personal data.

Mark my words: today will be revealed as a pivot point in the relationship between Trump and Vance. It’ll be recognized as the first moment when Vance did significant bet hedging with his silence and Trump noticed and it became A Thing between them over time.

Sincerely—not saying this to stir the pot—this is weak and both Trump and Don Jr. will know it. If Vance wanted to prove his loyalty, he would have knifed Musk; not just put out a generic "I am loyal to the king" tweet.

What Elon Musk didn’t realize is that reducing the deficit is not—and has never been—the GOP’s priority. The big priorities (since Reagan) are cutting taxes and increasing military spending. Hence deficits regularly go up when Republicans are in power.

On the left is what I wrote on Substack 11 days ago about the Billionaire Bailout Bill's section on contempt of court. On the right is the bond suggested by Judge Boasberg in the CECOT case yesterday. haha

To drive the point home, ICE is not/not the military—despite all the absurd operator cosplay. ICE agents are not going to be prosecuted for desertion if they simply walk away. There is no ICE UCMJ.

I'd put this a bit more sharply than @steveinskeep.bsky.social probably can: Trump simply does not understand any boundary between himself and the government. He has no sense of the public interest and believes the government is an extension of himself personally. open.substack.com/pub/steveins...

I’m enjoying this as much as anyone, but seems very likely they do some big show of squashing the beef within, like, a week.

He is now calling for Trump to nationalize SpaceX lmao

not to ask for too much, but I think I would like Donald Trump Jr. to get involved
