There is a good video of the landing. Came down hard on the rear wheels, had rolled a bit to the right, looks like the right gear collapsed and the ensuing flameout accelerated the roll.

While I agree that the logistics of almost realtime targeted advertising beyond reasonable reach, I do feel there is some use of recent transient conversation context used for searches on the same device. I've been noticing this for at least 10 years now: ashleyit.com/blogs/brenta...

What I took from this story is that they *spent* huge amounts of money into the US economy, supporting local businesses and people. It wasn't just lit on fire. Reminds me of the millions spent *in* the US to manufacture and send supplies to other countries and people think all the $ left the country

Having to look up the specific density of produce to make a simple comparison between two sizes of the same product from the same company is absolute fuckery.

This sort of chicanery is what companies come up with to steer you towards bad buying decisions and a cynic (me) might say that it's dishonest and manipulative.

Sometimes history is helpful to explain things like carriage-return and linefeed. It's fun watching heads explode when you explain those.

As per those links, $400 more for the HP for similar specs but half the storage is quite a premium for the benefit of a slightly lighter machine, so I would go with the Acer unless svelte is really your primary driver. My Acer Spin 311 is a tank, so I would expect the 714 to be similarly durable.

I've enjoyed Chromebooks for >10yrs but now that I find Linux Mint to be such a turnkey system I'm hard pressed to reco any Chromebook as they are underpowered and mem and storage limited. A recent offlease business Dell or Thinkpad running Mint Cinnamon shd far outperform a new Chromebook for the $

Also *everything* works when I boot Mint Cinnamon 21.1 LTS on any intel macbook/air/pro back as far as 2008 (once you load the broadcom wifi driver using Driver Mgr), as well as all the Dells and ThinkPads I have tried.

I have this one and it's quite small and convenient. 2x3-prong and 2x2-prong AC, 3 USB and 1 USB-C. Also very low profile angled plug, 5ft cable. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B...

It's odd that I've never noticed anyone suggesting Daylight Compromise Time smack dab between them. Everyone takes a one-time half-hour hit and we're done.

I fear post-2022 AI may only contain trickles of new original human-generated content and will increasingly generate a rehashed and refried tasteless slurry of infomush.
