Thoughts on Eli’s James’ insistence Dean Saunders is not a journeyman as he was too good. Given he played for 12 teams in 15ish years, never stayed at a team longer than 3 years, went to galatasaray and benfica, he feels pretty textbook to me

To add, my assumption is beyond 3rd choice you have a younger PL2 gk to bring in as needed. But if you’re not good enough for that/first team you’re moved on to a lower league club or foreign team. I mean, how much are these players making? What are their aspirations? As you can tell, I’m perplexed

Likely stupid question but do goalkeepers with careers like Austin and Whiteman exist at every club? Obviously the starter, backup + token British 3rd choice (Green, Carson, etc) are known but how/why does a middle 20s aged gk with barely any first team starts (anywhere) stay in a pl squad
