Not asking for help. Programming is essentially my day job, too. I just apply it to science.

(totally unimportant aside in the grand scheme of things: but I was so happy to find a bra I liked again after I finished breast feeding last year 😩 I tried several companies/options before this one)

I shared this for community awareness of what is happening at headquarters. I have no answers to the questions because I literally saw this email an hour ago and am recovering from a medical procedure today, not because I don't care to find out answers and find out what's going on.

I'm unsure if there is a hold on funding anywhere. I'm just assuming that because ExoPAG isn't completely independent of NASA funding that's why we're being told to pause. I'm not sure how it works for other AGs within the Planetary Division.

This email came from our division's program scientist at NASA headquarters. We didn't decide this ourselves. I believe it's because there is support from NASA: they have reps at our meetings. We get funding from an office at JPL for our travel and that office's admin staff supports us.

All of them.

Hi, I had nothing to do with this pause. This came from NASA headquarters directly. I'm just a volunteer on a NASA committee.

Gosh forbid we have speakers about outreach programs for under-resourced colleges/high schools at our PAG meetings. Apparently wanting to open science up to more people is bad™️ (sarcasm)

Which other Astro or Planetary (P)AGs have been told to pause activities?

"do not overreact about the country making a hard turn towards fascism! continue doing your silly* little science like normal!"
(*silly because literally how does my work even matter in the grand scheme of things right now)

Even a 1 day pause impacts medical trials and the patients in them, so no, a 1-day pause isn't acceptable either.
But I see you were defending Nazi salutes, so I don't think you're engaging in good faith here 👋

well now we have a "we're aware and are working on guidance" message, which is better than nothing.
