I agree, and I'm using that to some degree.
Have you seen this? I'm of two minds.

Awesome, I will look for you there! I'm not sure I saw you in 2023 - maybe from afar lol - so I think I haven't waved since before Covid lol

Yeah the combination with Readwise is actually what introduced me to ZK lol. My notes are being pushed both into Evernote (which I've used for 15+ years) and Notion. Still working with the best thing to do with both, but I like Notion for the ZK+other things.

On the other hand, I've had good discussion with folks who voted Trump and now have concerns.
Anyway, I realized I could share this with a wider audience, and since I put so much into it, here you go.

So rather than personal updates, I've been posting political things and trying to engage in meaningful discussions. It's mostly worked well, though I've unfriended a few folks who can't engage in healthy discussion.

I was going to delete my Facebook right after Trump's inauguration, first because Meta, but also because I'm tired of the garbage spewed. Then I realized that FB provides me a platform to reach out to some on the dark side.

You should check out @jtuttlekeane.bsky.social He does some fantastic visual science notes - generally planetary science.
James, will you be at #LPSC2025 ?

alas I can never find a tool to help me learn American Sign Language while driving! :D

I am afraid to even try. I can't keep up with my current input. I have notes everywhere and not enough time to 'zettel' them.
Maybe if I stop sleeping....

O.o
Like an old or historical document, I would be terrified that it would somehow catch fire while I'm holding it. Just spontaneously combust. Because I *am* very clumsy.

This kind of map is one reason I'm a little jealous, but since my ZK is part of a lot of other things (or rather, a lot of other things are part of my ZK), I'm using Notion instead of Obsidian. I did see that a similar graph is possible but I haven't played with it.

Currently about half the notes in my zettelkasten are about zettelkastens lol. At least those are fairly easy to link! But I feel like I'm improving as I continue on. One of my best-linked notes is "I'll understand how to use my ZK the more I use my ZK" lol

I've only been working on it for about two months but the more I put into it, the better I am at making connections.
How many notes do you have?
comment in response to
post
I've found that the more I add to my ZK the more I find connections. My first batch of notes is pretty isolated, and I have to let myself be okay with that. I have a handful of forced connections /shrug.

Yeah so I'll probably fly to Houston to save the drive.
I'm back and forth on flying to DC. I have the miles but I'm really stingy with them lol. And I was kind of thinking about catching up on my podcast listening. Which seems like a crazy reason to drive instead of fly when I write it out

Are you getting rid of #zettelkasten notes? Or just moving them around?

Doesn't help that I'm going to be driving to DC and back next week (the week before) for the Tuesday protest.

Sorry to hear that my friend! :(
"But we're *decades* behind where we should be in Venus science."
Couldn't agree more with this. The concept of "programmatic balance" appears to guarantee that there will never be a level playing field by preventing the injection of effort into priority science.

Balloons are to Venus as rovers are to Mars.
They allow us to explore the planet up close, without having to deal with the crushing pressures and searing temperatures at the surface.
We will yet fly through the skies of Venus.
We will yet fly.

Encouraging "you got this!" from me! And I echo the lucky student sentiment.
