This man should be relieved of duty effective immediately. This is not policing.

At least once a week I shout to the world "I WANT VBULLETIN BACK YOU SOBS!"

FWIW - ClearSky has all the deets. Who you've blocked, who blocked you and any lists you're on.

NEVER in the history of the US has Trickle Down economics lead to growth. NOT A SINGLE GD TIME.

Full disclosure, I don't have the "engagement" - I'm not here for clicks but to stay informed - but I've blocked exactly 1 person in 7 months. And I shake my head that I'm blocked by (checking Clear Sky) 14.
comment in response to post
Yes. However, if you refuse to block folks who are obvious trolls, don't bitch about the trolls. It's the internet - there will ALWAYS be trolls\hot takes. I'll extend a BIT of grace and not engage but will block outright toxicity.

I see someone has watched The Man in the High Castle.....

I'm guessing that's mainly because the agrobusiness owners ARE their base and realize that would not only lose that portion of their base very quickly - but ALSO if the grocery stores were empty as a result, everyone would rise up.

Except for the journalists on LIVE TV.....

Yes, it's important. And maybe I WANT to go back and review, but if I'm trying to stay up to date on anything else, it's buried in noise since there was no hashtag used. So I had to mute the account - which only would have been needed for a few hours or a day.
comment in response to post
What I still want is a "timed mute". So if folks cannot be bothered with hashtags (good on you with the AT40 hashtag), I can time box a mute rather than mute until I remember to unmute. Rachel Maddow re-posting EVERY SINGLE post she was tagged in during the first round of protests for instance.

Overall I've found it to be less toxic, but then I've curated it that way. If I wanted to go have debates on a specific topic - there's a subredit for that. That's not why I'm here - and I prefer how BlueSky has allowed me to make my feed what I want and isn't forcing engagement on me unwillingly.
comment in response to post
There will always be trolls. I don't engage. I have blocked only one person here and do NOT subscribe to block lists. Several have blocked me (not sure why, I am not everyone's cup of tea but it's not like I go on folks feed and call them names) - but whatever.
comment in response to post
I'm here MOSTLY to see WTH is going on that isn't making it into MSM from sources that actually cite their sources. I realize the filter that's here (just as I did on Twitter) and adjust accordingly. I am not here for engagement\clicks - I chime in when I feel I can give a unique view.
comment in response to post
I think it's really simple. It is what you make of it. My experience here isn't VASTLY different than Twitter because I curate my feeds and I'm here (and was there) for particular content. I only look at "following" not "For You\Discover" precisely because that's how I want it.

One of the biggest problems is getting someone reliable to take care of it if you need to be out of town (that you can afford).

The irony is, the smaller the tank the more difficult it is to keep because your dosing is so tight and easy for things to swing "to the bad" and actually requires more experience - especially salt. If you really want to get into aquariums and keep cost down, stick with fresh water.
comment in response to post
Aquariums can be inexpensive, moderate or obscenely expensive depending on what you want to keep. I haven't kept an aquarium in a LONG time, but back when I did, we skipped most pre-built things and built our own for a saltwater coral\non aggressive fish tank. Still wasn't cheap.

Oh. So that's why J6rs beating the police with an American flag is OK. I do note there's never a mention of the white supremacist flags on that day....

Or... you post something SO OBSCURE - and you laugh a bit at yourself thinking no one will get it - and 20 people will come along and post additional things about the obscure thing and you're like - I'm not the ONLY ONE into ancient Assyria!

THEN, when back in power, don't sit on your hands and go "whew - that was close!". Fix the Voting Laws. Expand the Supreme Court. Put more limits around executive power. Put BACK all the shit they broke. Tax the rich and push through Medicare for all.

Show it. Make them Own It. Then get them out. Preferably with enough documentation of fraud and corruption for criminal prosecution and\or impeachments to make sure they are NEVER in power again.

Cutting\Gutting Medicaid\Medicare\Social Security was always the plan. Lining the pockets of Trump and Musk (and everyone else with a finger in the pie) was always the plan. Widening the gap between the Haves\Have Nots was always the plan.
comment in response to post
Project 2025 was always the plan. They were never going to only go after "violent" immigrants - rounding up the easy to get ones following the law was always the plan. Cutting services (including and maybe especially the lifesaving ones) was always the plan.
comment in response to post
Instigating Violence? No. But we need to stop backing down and calling things what they are. They need to be challenged and not allowed to deflect. And yes, that absolutely means calling out the likes of MTG, Hawley, Miller, Hegseth and HAMMERING home the lies.

Air France hands down has some of the best food you can get on an airline in my experience, even the cheap seats on shorter flights where you just get snacks.

Sorry - 2022. Not sure what in my brain pegged 2019 but went back to a local article with the real date. Just wanted to update with the real year of the stop.

So.... after the 2019 traffic stop where they *checks notes* let everyone go. It wasn't until they found SOMETHING to charge him with and they now state that they've found and dismantled a human trafficking ring?

The proper response (pundits\politicians TAKE NOTE). All people means all people. Tourist, Immigrant (documented or not documented - jettison "illegal" from your lexicon), Rich or Poor. EVERYONE!

For that last GD time. THEY ALREADY DO THIS. But you still need regional offices for the literal RADARs that are required to get the data. The radars that can be damaged in storms. Also, weather ballons and flights through the weather to gather additional data you can't get from radar alone. FFS.

A little history here. Interest on Reserves initially was passed in 2006 to take effect in October 2011. Due to the housing\financial crisis, this was moved up to October 2008. Prior to that, banks received "credits" towards Fed Reserve services in a use or lose fashion (2 year credit).

As shown in other countries (and our current Medicare system), it would cost LESS to provide a universal system than what is current spent between orgs and individuals paying into the current private system. But you know, people they don't like would benefit.
comment in response to post
And for the record, the people that I personally know that are on Medicaid CANNOT GET those white collar jobs that provide healthcare specifically due to their health condition. THAT'S WHY THEY'RE ON MEDICAID!
comment in response to post
If they truly want a "gig" economy to survive, they\we MUST provide universal healthcare. Then it won't matter if you're driving for Uber (contractor) or surviving by farming your 1 acre plot and selling at a farmer's market or have a white collar job.

Gutting those systems, or the data that drive those systems will cause preventable deaths. Just like we saw in Kentucky. And if the system needs more modernization, that costs more $$ not less. So cutting the budget makes absolutely 0 sense no matter how you look at it.
comment in response to post
It DOES NOT MATTER that you can now do this from home (I do follow Ryan Hall Y'all) and use much of the same tooling\radar apps so I stay informed, but not everyone is savvy enough to be that weather aware which is the entire point of the Emergency Broadcast System.

Sending warnings for longer periods of time or to cover your bases means folks on the ground stop trusting the warnings because they've gotten so accurate over the years you can warn those actually in the path and not panic those that aren't.
comment in response to post
Already this spring we've had multiple times where real time data wasn't available when a radar was damaged meaning real time warnings couldn't be addressed. KY had multiple deaths from a tornado because the sirens never went off.
