Also, he says he's a doctor and AI can do a lot of the work. Ask him if any of his personal physicians are AI.

He talks about "growth of government." The U.S. population has grown 68% in the last 50 years. The number of non USPS civilian Federal employees is relatively stagnant over that time (2,140,000 in 1974 vs. 2,079,000 in 2024). The Federal payroll is about 4.3% of the Federal Budget.

"Read a book" I have stumbled upon something. I have a paperwhite e-reader and I borrowed via my library an e-copy of Ron Chernow's bio of Grant. Because I now have a time limit, I am making good progress on the book. Next up is to donate $ to the library's foundation.

While I didn't install from that mirror, the version date is 2018. I vaguely remember trying the app awhile back and found it not very useful, and I frankly don't recall if it was the iOS or Android version. I don't know if it's something nefarious or just that the app wasn't used.

To borrow from Douglas Adams, this is obviously some strange usage of the word "saves" that I wasn't previously aware of. #HHGTTG

Yes. It matters. But I also have my photography and art feeds here. I sometimes come here just for fun and I try to leave the app on one of those "fun" feeds so the app opens back on that and not the latest Orange Outrage.

The loss of this next generation of highly qualified leaders will make our nation—and the world—less safe, and less prepared to prevent, detect and respond to health threats.

I get a daily* history lesson from @hcrichardson.bsky.social email Letter. *Well, almost daily: Sometimes she needs rest and just posts a nice photo.

"Due to changes in United States law ..." The thing starts off like a bad phishing scam text or email. Also, I don't recall any legislation changing the law.

In the 4th grade a friend and classmate's father was the GM of the Biltmore Hotel. They lived in an apartment suite in the building.

Someone should be asking Musk and any GOP that own a private business if they would allow random kids barely past high school into their server rooms. Maybe have people show up at SpaceX and Tesla (and Tesla dealers) with random guys saying Elon authorized them to get to the server racks.

Could the attack on @archive.org have been related to the current happenings?

My daughter did this study for her middle school art class in 2016, when she was 13 years old.

Talk to anyone who employs skilled tradespeople: They almost all need employees who can build stuff and fix stuff.

I'm in Southwest Florida 2 or 3 times each year for work. It's been getting worse and I have reached the place where I would rather drive in Miami.

A late professional acquaintance, Ed Bonekemper, in his "The Myth of the Lost Cause" www.regnery.com/978168451360... points out that "The only three armies that surrendered between Sumter and Appomattox all surrendered to Grant." He also has written separate books on Lee and Grant.

My father had a 1958 Volvo 442 wagon. It had a 6 volt positive ground electrical system, two one barrel carburetors, and a three speed manual transmission, and first gear didn't have Synchromesh, so it had to be double-clutched. #oldcars #polarity

After my mother passed away, we found an old cigar box full of letters and postcards written home from mostly WWI France by her father to the woman he would marry on his return. I've taken high resolution digital photos of them, just in case.

Both of these bridges cross the Tennessee River in Decatur, Alabama. One is a Norfolk Southern railroad drawbridge, the other is U.S. Highway 31. Both photos taken from Rhodes Ferry Park. www.nps.gov/places/rhode...
