The average American reads at the 5th-6th grade level. 70% of adults in prison read at the 4th grade level making them functionally illiterate.

Never forget that (largely immigrants) fought and died for worker protections. They were not handed down by some benevolent capitalist.

If they were real enforcement officers there would be arrests for assaulting them.

Never trust anyone who has never bought groceries and then made food to feed others.

Yep. Or then get into office and get corrupted by the money in our politics like Fetterman.

You may feel so much better about yourself because it’s not you at the moment, but that too gives you a false sense of safety. If it can happen here, it can happen anywhere. Good luck.

They were here before both of them. It would just mean it would switch to a different platform. Look if you wanna keep arguing with people who aren’t in opposition to you, go ahead. But frankly this is tired and boring. Good luck. It’s gonna get worse before it gets better.

All of yours are too. The false sense of safety that “it’ll never happen here” is what lulled Americans too.

Per world history, the slide to towards authoritarianism has happened across all types of governments. All.

If you think any government is without corruption, you are grossly uneducated or willfully ignorant.

Everyone is subjected to the will of the ‘majority’ under democratic rule. thats how this works. If it could happen here, it can happen in Canada too.

You think those of us here are not also living with the consequences of the decisions of less than 1/3 of us? 2/3 of us didn’t vote for this. Trust me, it’s way worse here.

And it was the second highest voter turnout since 1960.

It means that slightly more than a third voted against him. It’s also wrong to assume that those who didn’t vote supported him.

Many also voted third party in a two party system.

And? It’s typical in every election. There are no mandates to vote.

Not really, he got 49.8% of the popular vote which means more than half of Americans voted against him.

I know why. We’ve knocked the legs out of Civics education in US high schools since those pesky students started protesting in the 60s. That and history is taught by coaches who don’t teach discernment and bias.

There is no populist left. The reason the populist right movement has been so successful is because the left is not united under a cohesive ideology. It will make no difference, populism always collapses on itself. Always.

Remember, SCOTUS also gave us the Dred Scott decision. They have been and are wrong. Money in politics means no democracy.

Yes. And what benefit does it provide?
comment in response to

Many of us live in rural areas, far from urban centers, where our current income due to economic conditions inhibits the ability to participate in protests. Resistance takes many forms. This is also a marathon, not a sprint.

In this country, you can choose to vote or not vote. The answer is not to erode more civil liberties. Ever.

Remember, the majority of Americans did not vote for this. He won 49.8% of the popular vote. That means that more than half of Americans voted against him.

This stems from post WWII economic boom where the US capitalized on selling consumer goods that they marketed along with the American Dream. They sold household appliances along with the “land of milk and honey” rhetoric. It’s marketing. Not history.

The US is no less corrupt than any other government. We have just been lulled into a false idea of thinking so.

Took my mother-in-law this week to get them done. She did great and is so thankful she did it! Better vision the next day, although will continue to improve for 39 days. My husband is a former OR nurse whose worked hundreds of cataract days. It’s a routine procedure with few/rare complications!

This is a common tactic of every wave of immigrant groups in America. They try to get ahead by stepping on those who come after them.
