Trump is on Putin's side. That's it. That's the story and if you are on Trump and Putin's side then you're on the side of murder, fear, war and autocracy. Find it absolutely staggering that some people who you'd expect so much more of are cheering this nightmare on

Perhaps we should pay for the increased defence spending with a levy on the profits of US Tech companies?

A lawyer’s resignation letter for the ages, and that penultimate paragraph is an absolute corker.

Shouldn't we be funding all the UK AI work with the money we made from the IOT/4th Industrial Revolution profits?

More of the approach that's never worked once in political history: screaming "we're racist!" at the far right in the vain hope that people *who despise you* will switch from more racist parties, without your horrified base switching to less racist ones. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

This should be changed asap. If we give someone refugee status, it can't be right to then refuse them route to become a British Citizen. To say they can have a home in our country, but never a place in our society and be forever second class. freemovement.org.uk/good-charact...

My latest cartoon for @newscientist.com

Exactly this.

The only thing you ever need to read about Cummings is the @vizcomic.bsky.social cartoon. Perfect encapsulation of his character and work.

The Papua New Guinea Courier is in rare form.

So an AI opportunity is the new dead cat?

Could we rebrand AI models as Bullshit Addressable Storage?

Aside from anything else the writing style of chatbots is hideous. Plausibly human if you think coked up marketer counts as human, but hideous.

You can certainly make it work better than it is. But the popular usage is meant to imply that it can work as well as EU membership did. Which is just not true. A lie maintained both by the Tories and, now, Labour.

All uses of "AI" in the news could use "software", with the only exceptions being the places where it would have been useful to note if it was written in C++ or Python.

A possibly helpful example for people thinking about AI, AGI and exponential growth in computing power. 2009: Takes a $1500 machine about an hour to build Android 2024: Takes a $4000 machine about an hour to build Android

Lately web search is like yelling a question into a canyon and trying to interpret the echos in the hope one is an answer. With AI instead of a canyon it's a room of those guards that always tell the truth or always lie with one of them picked at random to answer.

My thoughts on the essay Foundations. ‘Fixing planning’ is no silver bullet. open.substack.com/pub/energyne...

"have the ketamine-addled man-child call for Farage's resignation because he won't support Tommy Robinson" "aren't you meant to be on holiday?"
