Party of One by @daveholmes.bsky.social. As a 53 year old music nerd who once put together a mixed tape for a Jr high dance, I can relate to so much of this book.Seeing my fellow 13 year olds stare blankly at me when Talking Heads Psycho Killer and Cows by the Suburbs played still stays with me.

I had a ridiculous amount of cassettes that I replaced with CDs. Then I ripped all of my CDs to our PC. Now I have a bunch of vinyl again. I wish I would have saved my cassettes and CDs though. You never know when you may need that casingle of Love is on the Way by Saigon Kick.

I've never been able to understand why DEI is considered woke or radical. Shouldn't the easiest thing that every one of does every day is just accept other people? Like, I deal with a lot of hard shit on a regular basis. Affording basic human decency is a cake walk.

I consider myself a bit of music nerd and I especially love finding neato covers...how is it that I had never heard Moby's cover of That's When I Reach for my Revolver? How is that possible? I'm a voracious audio consumer and this cover has been around for 29 years!!??

While I can't say he was the best president, Jimmy Carter was most definitely the best human being to ever be president. If politicians had even a small percentage of the empathy that he had, we'd all be better off.

My time off this last week went by too fast, but I did accomplish a few things. Time with family, time with friends, and made the perfect Irish coffee. 1.5 oz Irish Whiskey, .75 oz brown sugar simple syrup, strong coffee, lightly whipped unsweetened cream. It's better than bad, to be sure.

"The juice isn't worth the squeeze". After juicing 4 lbs of lemons and limes today to have "classy" cocktails, I can attest to this saying. And in a blind taste test, there is no discernable difference in taste. Give me convenience or give me death!

Franny is using Rachel for a bed and Bruno cares very little about anything. A wonderful mellow Christmas eve before a few days of family chaos. I love my family but that many people in one place for several hours can be...a lot. But also lots of goodness.

After 3 months of science, this 15 lbs of local honey and 96 oz of blood orange puree is 3 days away from bottling. Coming in at a hearty 14% ABV, it's pretty much the best mead in the known world.

I listen to a ridiculous amount of books. Admittedly, the last year has been exclusively fiction but I feel this is sufficiently offset by the amount of time I listen to Bad Religion which is like a dictionary for every 3 minutes of music.
