science in all its realms is fucking complicated and constantly saying "fuck you there are no solid rules" and to give high schoolers a base level of understanding, you have to cut some stuff out and simplify it. if the student pursues that science further, THEN they'll get into the complexities.

there are a ton of different things that can happen with your sex chromosomes. not that it even matters wrt gender; everyone's gender identity is valid regardless of their sex chromosomes. but still, it pisses me off!!!! we teach simplified versions of science to high schoolers for the sake of time.

I think it's why even though things are horrifying, I have hope. because even with the bad stuff happening, I can't deny my lived experience. I can't deny the progress that I've seen happen in my lifetime! they'll try to stop it, but I really don't think it's possible. the future is already here.
