What is missing is a comparison with inflation to see what the rise is in real terms.

But the 2 that work do do for one reason. Bollards. And bollards lowered to permit vehicles for certain reasons.

The few “pedestrian malls” in Auckland are just one big joke.

What? Has Dunedin been annexed by Florida?

I’m not sure what you mean, but reportedly, Ockham who build quality apartments have quite a few unsold dwellings.

It is really unpleasant having the view out the windows obscured with advertising. Surely attaching it to the body of the train or bus is enough.

At the moment there are quite a few blocks with unsold apartments. Could it be that the problem is not just the need to build more but also a problem of poverty?

You do realise I was being ironic?

You’re completely misled. As history shows, giving free enterprise a completely unregulated market will make a comfortable healthy home available to all and will launch them up the property ladder to golden prosperity.

If David Seymour thinks cancer saves the taxpayer money it shows his ignorance of the details of his portfolio as minister for Pharmac.

That he blames his grievance on the whole country must be unique for an acting Prime Minister in a democracy. I strongly recommend a move to where he may be more appreciated. e.g. USA, Russia, Belarus….

東京 what a wasteland. The ugliest place I ever lived.

Maybe the state could build dwellings for those who otherwise couldn’t afford them? Maybe we could call them “state houses”?

The NZSO orchestra certainly hasn’t grown by 29%. I doubt the admin has when arts funding is down. What does that percentage represent?

I assume looking at his name he is counting himself among the evil outsiders who have subverted us?

It’s a pity there’s no bus or train that goes from downtown to Newmarket.

Maybe it’s in their Anglo-Saxon genes to fear the slightly different. Look up St Bryce’s Day massacre.

Another example of ACT’s one-dimensional thought patterns.

It’s like their answer to housing problems. More market is the answer to everything when history shows it simply doesn’t work.

I had the impression that Trotskyists were anti-racist and believed in the solidarity of all workers. It was the Stalinists who believed in “socialism” in a single country. Stalin called WWII the “patriotic” war. He wanted to defend just Russians, not fight fascism.

And yet it’s councils causing a lack of housing? Methinks, the problem might be multi-faceted. Private builders can build lots of minimally priced dwellings but if your household budget can’t afford it you will still be unhoused.

“state” might be a better description. What is a nation anyway?

They just didn’t let on where that track was to lead.

It is a new victory for NZME & its ability to produce cognitive dissonance.

Hmmm. Are you sure that is the full fare? When you’re using a non-opal card it shows a token $1 & then the real charge appears a few days later.

In London’s west end I feel surrounded by different groups of people enjoying themselves in different ways. I’ve never had the same experience in any German city. The nearest I suppose is St Pauli. But other forms of entertainment are elsewhere e.g. Deutsches Theater, Oper, Elphi are all scattered

Just in comparison. That’s why I’m off to Munich in 2 weeks.

I studied in Hamburg & I’m fluent in German. I like Germany a lot. Until Covid I was in Germany every year. Yet I find central London has a much more youthful feel and seems to have a greater range of things going on than most German cities.
