When I first learned how to code on my 386sx-16 (4MB OF RAM WOW!!) I was blown away that I could, using assembler in Turbo Pascal, change resolution to 320x240x256 and do effects with the palette and pixels and stuff. I didn't need higher res to be happy ever. Even now 320x240 satisfies me.
