Interesting! I’m curious what more research would show. Having been a part of these kinds of spaces since I got really sick, I’d expect some kind of physical health impact from groups who: describe what good/attentive Dr appointments are like & give communication tips, share mobility aid tips, etc.

I can’t be the only one with this problem! But also maybe others just prefer to have many sizes in the wardrobe and don’t find that infuriating the way I do.
I figured I’d share after seeing your sew expo video. I thought “if only there were adjustable pants!”

More modern styles would be great, if that’s a thing anyone is doing.
So far I’m replacing zippers with lines of snaps, hooks, or laces. But it doesn’t always look great, and there’s definitely more pattern drafting needed. I’m such a beginner I super lack the skills (right now).

Idk if I’m the only one but I’m trying to make adjustable clothing. My health issues make my weight fluctuate constantly & I hate storing many sizes. Ideally I’m trying to make clothes that look good in 4inch range.
My options right now are historical clothes & self drafting-

I’m still a beginner, but I’m working on garment sewing! My goal is to eventually have a full wardrobe that (1) actually fits me & (2) helps with my various health issues (blocks UV).
It’s still early days but I think I’ll eventually get there.

The anti-trans movement always pretends its latest demand, its latest moral panic, is the limits of what they want. Just give in to this one "reasonable concern" and they'll be satisfied, promise. It's a lie, they'll never be happy as long as trans people exist.

I think about cause & effect. If I don’t have X what’s the result? Is that acceptable? (Usually no)
These days I try to ask for more frequent & smaller asks. It’s less all/nothing for each time.
Before I’d wait until dire need, which left little room for unpredictable life or humany-humans.

Maddening. It’s all crazy making. The things I can do, I do, and I know it’s not enough.

Big thanks to @bernadettebanner.bsky.social for her youtube channel, which finally inspired me to learn to sew!
& @stephaniecanada.bsky.social for her channel & website BackRoomFinds! & @aaronicabcole.bsky.social for her channel!
Watching you while I sew helps me keep going through frustrations.

That sounds great to read!
I’d love to hear your rant on the three act format, as it feels linked to the main character syndrome so many of us have bad. It’s not how life is or people are & I suspect it’s only to easy to write because it’s so much of what I’ve read. It feels fake in and of itself.

I like writing (usually very) short stories that are thematically linked and in the same universe, but not directly connected, nor really full stories on their own. Kinda like postcards, or poetry, with no (or all) main characters. I'm not seeking publication though, just doing art for art's sake.

Oof! I’ve heard of that but not experienced it myself. Check fiber content. I do have bad reactions to polyester, but it’s not hives. Ive some kind of oil & bacteria reaction. I get mad oily followed by the worst stink you can imagine.

No advice really, just mentioning food allergies can cause reactions with cosmetics (wheat is in a lot of stuff, etc.). If heat rash was already a thing for you, could still be heat related. I’d also consider metals, (nickel, etc.)
I hope you either get to the bottom of it or it just stops!

Sounds really familiar. ❤️
Have you ever been examined by a dr on a bad day? Or had testing done then?
I’m wondering if medicine in general is missing a big part of illness, when we’re stuck in bed, or if others make it in to be seen in a way I’ve not figured out.

I’ve had periods of time like that, and imagining that being always is awful. I’m so sorry your good days are few and far between.
Are you able to make it to Dr appointments? Or do those have to wait for good days?

Sounds a lot like my good & bad days.
I’ve never managed to make it to a dr on bad days, have you?
I feel like that whole side of my illness is absent, no tests, no examination, because I’m trapped in bed on those days.

Hey, I can’t hang out but also in Pittsburgh and i totally get this. I wish I had the solution, but all I have is motivation to keep struggling.
I hope your slump evaporates by some magic, or that something you do actually brings feelings of peace or joy.

DBT skills have also been super duper helpful for my own denial.
I’ve learned most of those on my own though. And then down group discussions with other disabled folks and thought about/applied the DBT skills during those discussions.

I’ve had some luck with targeting therapists who specialize specifically on the technique/method I’m looking to use. Being able to keep sessions very focused sorta didn’t leave room for their lack of understanding of my health & disability.
(Ex: grief therapy worked well when general didn’t)

Yes, but mostly for progressive diseases. So by the time the disease is significantly disabling, they can’t work full time anymore.
Having known a lot of folks in the mental health field, I think there’s a significant problem in the training that feeds into ableism (and classism and racism).

👋 I’m just a hobbyist writer (and with abysmal discipline) but I’m definitely autistic AF. Also hoping to connect with other disabled artists here.

I knew from experience that it was bad, so I wasn’t expecting covid to go well. But I also didn’t expect liberal friends and family to be all, “you can go die, I’m not going to wear a mask or hang outside. How dare you even ask.”

The actual detailed financials for agriculture. When folks say margins are slim, whose profit are we talking about? That it’s hard for investors to turn a profit or that a living wage is close to not doable for farm owners?
Farm owners I’ve known have been comfortably upper+ middle class.

I was wondering the exact same thing for a book club pitch, so following closely to see what folks think.
