Does Elon have to send Donald an email about how he tweets 400x a day?

Several good things are happening according r/fednews so I am going to drop them here. If federal workers are fighting back, how much more us? A thread/

how many controversial salutes are there. i can only think of the one but admittedly i'm not a salute scholar

The Daily Beast: What is this Elon Salute what can it mean French Nazis: too Nazi for us

Conservatives have sneering contempt for international institutions like, say, the Nobel Prize Committee, but they also want recognition from those institutions soooo bad.

New York Post, welcome to the resistance?

The right number is maybe $12 revenue per $1 of IRS spend, so DOGE is actually $6 billion underwater or more.

The NAEP 2024 -2025 Long Term Trend Age 17 assessment will not be administered in the upcoming weeks Unbroken testing series since early 1970s Nothing like ignorance to keep our country moving forward

Been wishing someone would write a guide to the various exec orders and court challenges for a while. This one from NYT is pretty good! www.nytimes.com/2025/02/20/u...

Have any of the big cable networks found a family who needs 16 cartons of eggs every week yet?

calling what trump is doing in ukraine appeasement is excessively kind to trump and grotesquely unfair to chamberlain et al. for all his faults, chamberlain wasnt rooting for hitler.

Q for #statistics people, #statsmodels users, #stata users: I'm replicating a Stata analysis in Python's statsmodels. I've replicated the model: both give the exact same coefficients, z-score, etc. BUT, they forecast differently: first period the same, and then diverge. What's going on here?

With this move, DOGE wipes out all the cuts it has made. Say average cost of these employees is $100k (salary + benefits). 7k workers * $100k * 6 (estimate of revenue each $ of IRS spending brings) = $4.2 billion. NPR analysis found $2 billion in DOGE cuts, so they're 2.2 billion underwater atm.

This is a really useful article that clarifies to what extent Trump has defied judges. That said, I think if everyone understands that these are dilatory tactics that have the same effect as impoundment, that’s still a constitutional crisis www.nytimes.com/2025/02/19/u...

Really interesting electoral strategy Republicans are cooking up here. Curious to see how this works out for them in the midterms.

This whole saga has, I think, demonstrated very well my contention that American political journalists believe that they deserve all of the respect and deference that comes with filling a vital societal role, while rejecting the idea that holding such a position also entails duties and obligations.

@ericvannostrand.bsky.social & I are in @briefingbook.bsky.social on infrastructure. Last week, @jasonfurman.bsky.social argued that real US infrastructure investment has fallen since the pandemic. Eric & I find however that using BEA’s deflator, real highway spending is up 11% since 2019. 1/11

The value is X and Tesla and all of Musk's companies now center on his political power, not the products they produce

“Poor Rubio” stuff is going to age like “Poor Melania” did. If a person unquestioningly carries out the orders of a fascist regime, they’re probably a fascist in their heart.

One more invasion against a guerrilla insurgency bro, I swear to God this time we're gonna win it.

EVERY American should be ashamed by what Trump said today, undermining the Ukrainian people and freedom and democracy around the world. What an American President says matters. And Zelenskyy is not the dictator — Putin is. This is just plain wrong. And Republicans should say so.

This is the fundamental asymmetry of politics: Rs literally just make up whatever data they need on the spot. If someone doesn't call them on it, there are no consequences.

Pocketbook strategy really killing it I see

Seems like a weird thing to say man. Is it possible these guys are all little weirdos?

X, of course, has very little underlying value, just like Tesla. Their “value” is a reflection of Musk’s ability to coup the US government.

No wonder he doesn't care about Musk running the country

Yeah actually this makes a lot of sense – @joshtpm.bsky.social theorizes that Musk is using a bunch of 20-something Nazis instead of senior people from his businesses because the senior people aren't willing to take on legal risk etc.

Didn't Rogan used to fact check his podcast and stuff? I thought that was one of the appeals of it?

lol, what is this investigation even going to look like?

Does he know that France + UK has the same population as Russia but 4x the GDP? Also didn't they just get militarily defeated by a country that is a fraction of the size of Russia?

The Times spoke to people being trapped inside a Panama hotel after deportation from the US and the individual stories of horror are almost too much to bear www.nytimes.com/2025/02/18/w...
