Didn't Rudd shut down the detention centres in Nauru? Now of course, Gillard opened them back up again. But would they have reopened had it not been for the US-backed coup though? Plus I still haven't forgiven America for couping both Whitlam and Rudd. Whitlam for the Pine Gap issue as well as wanting to nationalise the mines and Rudd for wanting to put on a 40% mining tax that would've effected foreign companies. I hate Trump, but they made their bed, they can lie in it

America only helps pov countries so that they can attain soft power. China will soon come to the conclusion that helping those countries will assist them in becoming the dominant superpower in the long run and choose to step in. They'll be fine
