Mrs Miriam Magenta understands and interprets information in a different way than Mr Michael Mustard. A single communicator (of any type) can either find a middle ground that sorta finds its way to both or use a tool to make sure it’s well communicated for both (now multiply that by a large factor)

I think newspapers is a great analogy. Printed news was of hard reach whilst radio improved on it and televised news on top of it, then the internet. With each of those, came benefits and risks (e.g fake news). I see it as the same now - a new tool/mean that can improve on what we have now…

by “parcel” I meant “portion” it was either auto-correct or my brain thinking in my native language’s ‘parcela’ my bad 😅

It’s the internet, so please don’t take my word for it, just go on and check statistics on reading rates and demographics! Do your own research! (said in a friendly, non-passive-aggressive tone as this might sound like 😛)

It’s not a matter of opinion - it does not exist - it, sadly, is not entirely inclusive. It’s a compromise that worked for most cases. Why do you think that, historically, newspapers only catered to a small parcel of the population globally?

I should know as it’s literally my job. However, against all (who want it to work autonomously) I advocate to it as a sidekick tool - it IS extremely powerful and we don’t need mega-hyper-processing for it to work well ALONGSIDE a human. Run local low-energy models and help yourselves, people.

Precisely my point. “A general audience” does not exist. And we’d compromise for the sake of common sense. But now we have a tool - and yes, it doesn’t have magical properties but it’s a tool - to help us tailor our communication efforts. I’m not saying it should do it FOR us.

Deviating slightly from your point, I think this is A good use case of AI. No matter how good you are at communicating, AI can help one communicate to multiple audiences simultaneously which they wouldn’t be able to by themselves. Not a single person can. Not every AI use case is BS imo.

Nunca quis morar. É ótimo, mas JAMAIS me senti bem-vindo.

comment in response to post
