Progressive father, lawyer, cyclist, thinker. Hopeful that the USA will one day live up to the promise of the Declaration of Independence. Dumbfounded that we seem to be stuck in an historical feedback loop.

Well I’m not familiar with the area. And I obviously misread the post. Comment withdrawn.

Probably not much. It’s generally against the law to walk alongside an interstate.

Right. First they dump boiling tar over your body. Then comes the basket of feathers, which usually serves to cause infection in the burned skin. If you’re run out of town on a rail, it means you are tied arms and legs over a pole, like game, and carried out of town hanging by your arms & legs.

Kudos to you for a good (and civil) exchange. Much better than the other place!

Maybe. I think it also might be the time for new leaders to step up and convey the message. People like Gavin Newsome and Pete Buttigieg. Obama, as smart and good and competent as he was as president, is the past. We need a future.

Former presidents tend to keep a low profile. Trump ignored that memo.

I so agree. I really enjoyed the Biden administration when the president was not in the news every goddamned day.

Rockets that crash, AI that hallucinates and cars that kill people. All with the generous support of government subsidies. Meanwhile he’s lying about DOGE and fucking government while bilking the US for more taxpayer money.

It is time for you to step aside, and enjoy a well-earned retirement. And encourage the next generation of leaders to step up and lead. Lest you think this viewpoint is solely directed at you, be assured that it is not. No one should hold public office over the age of 75. /end

You are also following the same path as our dear former POTUS Joe Biden, whose misguided decision to run for a second term arguably deprive the Democrats of a real primary and a allowed the Felon to return to the White House. There are many qualified people who can represent DC in the House.

Future performance. By running at age 88, you are indulging the same hubris that the Hon. Ruth Bader Ginsburg did when she refused to retire while Obama was president, despite serious health issues. Now we have a supermajority of reactionary conservatives on SCOTUS.

Shame on Grassley. He should know better.

Bribes in the form of envelopes of cash is not redundant, it is clarifying. Bribes can take many forms, including 747s. And he was literally, not figuratively, taking bribes. Thanks for your help though.

I don’t think there is one redundancy, much less two. Also when did the thread on Agnew’s history become about grammar on a micro blogging platform?

He was also a major crook, literally taking bribes in the form of envelopes of cash in the White House.

From what I’ve read, you have to wait until the weight of their observed experience grows so heavy that it cannot be ignored any longer. It takes more cognitive dissonance to break through. I have a parent who’s there with your mom and it is very frustrating.

You would think the capitalists would recognize that appealing to more customers means more revenue. But then again people everywhere seem to be substituting their politics for their morals, their health, and their wallets.

Jeez it’s painful to listen to his rambling inarticulate bullshit.

You cannot start out your career at the top. You must earn that, usually with hard work.

I’m not finding any reporting on the election provisions. Please provide cites and links. If that is really in there, it’s very concerning. The rest is just Republicans giving tax breaks to the wealthy at the expense of benefits to the poor.

No! The constitution does matter. Don’t fall into the Trump trap.

Nor does repeating the lie over and over…

He fucked up years ago for sure. But he is the victim of a manufactured/fake controversy now. And we should not accept that for anyone.

I’m so glad all the pro-Gaza voters in the US managed to avoid the evil of a Harris presidency. (Heavy sarcasm)

The Magna Carta contains a key clause (Clause 39) that laid the groundwork for "Habeus Corpus" “No free man shall be seized or imprisoned... except by the lawful judgment of his equals or by the law of the land.”
