Often referred to as "The Moment of Truth."

Hard to even explore the possibility of consensus, when the acculturated autopilot drives everyone to differentiate.

Everything has consequences, even when one appears to "get away" with something.

Am I naive to think that the citizens of modern Western "democracies" used to know, or at least intuit, that the frustrations and ugly compromises of the democratic process were worth enduring because the risks of Plutocracy were so great?

Presumably, people have been misinterpreting and reimagining stories and myths in their own image for millennia. The difference now is that these many and varied poor readings can spread across the globe and coagulate into fetid pools and off gas combustible fumes, which combine and explode.

The core drivers of violence are shame, isolation, exposure to violence, and an inability to meet one's economic needs. The four core feature of prison are shame, isolation, exposure to violence, and an inability to meet one's economic needs.

Letting myself really care about the teams I root for exposes something ugly in me. If I pay attention there's an opportunity to grow in awareness and self control. Avoidance is easy and less fruitful.
