ICYMI, last week we published an interactive map of more than $300 billion worth of Inflation Reduction Act and bipartisan infrastructure law funding. Enter your ZIP code or city and a search radius and find projects in your area: grist.org/accountabili...

What a horrifying doozy these first two weeks of the Trump administration have been. YOWZA. I’ve been pacing myself by focusing on climate policy, since it’s nearly impossible to keep up with everything. Here, in @rollingstone.com, is what I’m thinking so far: www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

What I cannot understand is why the American establishment and its institutions are folding so quickly. What are you people so afraid of? You never even had gulags.

Want to go visit the national parks this year? Sorry. The reservation system is shut down, EMT personnel are gone, so don't get hurt or lost. No one can clean the bathrooms or cabins, so they'll be closed. Rangers are fired. www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/arti...

SCOOP @bloomberg.com: Top officials at the US Department of Homeland Security received a memo from Sec. Kristi Noem on Friday ordering an immediate stop to work connected to climate change and the elimination of climate-related terms across the agency. Gift link: www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

jamelle is correct

And here we go.

Happy Valentine’s Day to the Environmental Protection Agency and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. 🥰 And to those messing with the agencies I love, jeopardizing the critical services they provide to us all, I hope Cupid pus you on his shit list. open.substack.com/pub/ayanaeli...

Please feel free to reach out to me securely on Signal at 213-270-4334 if there is any info you would like to share about what's taking place behind the scenes at federal agencies and how it impacts the public.

What are your favorite books on climate? Which titles have had the most impact on your understanding or approach to climate action? Drop your recommendations in the comments below & check out these books by @ayanaeliza.bsky.social @michaelemann.bsky.social @annetheresegennari.bsky.social

Just in case you thought that removing DEI criteria would mean that everyone is competing equally: NIH is removing grad students from underrepresented backgrounds from the applicant pool altogether. Their applications will not be considered. Other students, not from these backgrounds, will be.

If you’re in DC pls go and make a witty sign and yell real loud for me tomorrow‼️ For the love of @noaa 🩵 www.mobilize.us/ccanactionfu...

Super Bowl ad drives home the critical point: When it comes to acting on climate change #lateristoolate. But SOLUTIONS EXIST. If we act now, we can help protect the people and places we love. Bravo Science Moms & Potential Energy Coalition 🌏🏈

discussing @ayanaeliza.bsky.social's What If We Get It Right? in a Theater for Social Justice Class, a student shared that if they zoom out, they feel overwhelmed, but if they zoom in they start to see their own agency 🍃 ...it's been sticking with me when the overwhelm gets me #climateChange

DC peeps, time to show up to protect EPA — Clean Air Act❗️Clean Water Act❗️Superfund Act*❗️Toxic Substances Control Act❗️ If you want these glorious acts of Congress implemented, we must protect EPA. Thank you Senator Markey for leading the charge 💚 www.mobilize.us/climateactio...

I feel like we don't talk enough about how many lives have been saved by accurate, publicly available weather forecasts

Coastal cities can drive meaningful climate action, even without federal support. In her new piece for @rollingstone.com, our co-founder @ayanaeliza.bsky.social highlighted a number of ways in which local governments are leading the way 🧵:

Jasmine Crockett: "The problem is that Americans thought it was okay to take a full fledged criminal and make him the President of the US and then they want to act aghast when he does criminal things. Let me tell you, we have a thug in charge of the US and if we don't wake up we may not have a US"

they are stealing data from the american people and depriving us of the transparency that we are entitled to by law. none of this is legal and not a single federal employee has any reason to comply.

This is a hostile takeover of the federal government by a private citizen of unlimited means with no restrictions and no transparency. Welcome to the Deep State www.reuters.com/world/us/mus...

i think it is important to say that the open and explicit racism of the president and the vice president isn’t just uncouth or “controversial” but a direct attack on tens of millions of americans and a dereliction of their duty to represent the entire country

There is *a lot* going on right now. My hot take, as I try to keep up wrt our planet: “These executive orders will make our air dirtier, make people sicker, make energy more expensive, and make our communities less prepared for extreme weather.” apnews.com/article/trum...

As expected, the Trump team is already deleting climate info from government websites. In anticipation, our team at Urban Ocean Lab created a permanent archive of 100+ key resources and published a permanent archive: www.urbanoceanlab.org/resource-hub 👩🏽‍💻

This matters. Not because I think Trump is capable of mercy or empathy towards these vulnerable groups. But because it is a public act of defiance. Contrast that with all these other powerful people in this country signaling nothing but appeasement and obedience.

9 of the Executive Orders that Trump signed on Day 1 of his administration specifically assault our environment and our ability to address climate change. Here's a summary of the worst of it: ayanaelizabeth.substack.com/p/trumps-day...

Not a great head space the past few days given both the metaphorical and horrifyingly real fires of 2025 — but my Libby hold on “What If We Get It Right” just came in, and damn if the buoyant optimism of @ayanaeliza.bsky.social hasn’t recalibrated my hopometer. It’s a life raft for climate despair.

Thanks for the shoutout, @vox.com. 💛 And now is a great time to do some imagining about climate solutions we will make real in the world in 2025…✨

Want to know how I achieved the maximum possible accuracy and precision in my latest book? I hired a fact checker named James Gaines. I’ve worked with James for years – first on the @allwecansave.bsky.social anthology, then on the How to Save a Planet podcast.
