Trump’s attacks on DEI are anti-Blackness on steroids. But we're not backing down in our pursuit of racial justice. Proud to re-introduce #HR40, historic legislation to confront our country’s history of systemic racism and make the case for #reparations. www.nbcnews.com/news/nbcblk/...

Presidents' Day is a reminder that presidents are elected to serve the PEOPLE. Not unelected billionaires. Not giant corporations. Not special interests. Not their families. Not their ultra-wealthy friends. The people.

Protesters are outside the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) after the Trump admin brought the agency to a halt. Most of the offices above us are dark. Rep. Pressley is at the mic — “THIS is what we're gonna dismantle? What in the hell kind of government efficiency is that?”

Let me say it again: Trans people deserve to play sports. Trans people deserve health care. Trans people deserve access to bathrooms. Trans people deserve to be treated like human beings. This Congresswoman loves you and will always have your back.

Elon musk isn’t elected. He’s a Nazi nepo baby who breaks everything he touches. And right now he’s locked himself in a room with grandpa’s Social Security check.

There's absolutely no reason Elon Musk needs access to the system that pays your Social Security check. This is terrifying and not normal. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/01/u...

This Black History Month, let's call a thing a thing. When Republicans attack "DEI," "wokeness," "CRT," or "BLM" — they mean Black. It's anti-Blackness on steroids.

This tragedy has been devastating for families and loved ones in Massachusetts & across the country. Our family is sending our love and condolences to the skaters, coaches, and the Skating Club of Boston community.

Bodies are still being pulled from the Potomac, some of them Massachusetts residents. And instead of uniting our country, Trump is using this tragedy to blame "DEI," sow division, and attack minorities. Shameful, disgusting, and more of the same.

One more time for those in the back: Mifepristone is a safe medication. RFK Jr is not a safe person.

Federal funds keep people alive—heating homes, driving cancer research, and so much more. The Trump Admin's unlawful & cruel funding freeze threatens lives & livelihoods. I'm glad a judge has blocked it and Trump must reverse course immediately. apnews.com/article/dona...

Each of the 6 million Jewish people horrifically killed in the Holocaust mattered. The babies, parents, elders, loved ones—their lives were stolen. Today, we say #NeverAgain and recommit to ending antisemitism and hate in all its forms. #HolocaustRemembranceDay

He clearly doesn't read the Constitution, just like he doesn’t read the Bible 🧐 So let me spell it out: If you're born in America, you're American. Period.

Forcing employees to snitch on each other is the type of dangerous tactic you see from authoritarian governments. And it leaves people of color, women, LGBTQIA+ folks, and those with disabilities further at risk. Shameful.

Trump's rollback of DEI initiatives are an affront to all of us.   It is a FACT that systemic oppression codified in our laws & budgets has harmed women, people of color, LGBTQIA+ & disabled folks, & many others.   Diversity is our strength & everyone in America deserves to thrive.w

Thank you Bishop Budde for leading with our shared humanity. As a woman of faith, I know these times require us to dig deep, hold each other close, and move with compassion.

Today, America faces a painful contradiction: Honoring Dr. King while seeing the former occupant of the White House return to power. I wrote about how I'm spending the day building community and how we can follow King's blueprint over the next four years. www.bostonglobe.com/2025/01/20/o...

Today, please remember that Dr. King was a man before his assassination made him a martyr. A loving husband, father, son, and brother who centered the humanity of all people. As we mark the MLK holiday, let's not forget his.

Dr. King asked, "will we descend into chaos or build a beloved community?" The answer must always be community, and we must do the work of actively building it. As we prepare for the next four years, I was proud to join @aclum.bsky.social to do just that. www.boston.com/news/local-n...

Hey y'all! Join us tomorrow at 1:30pm in Roxbury as we prepare for the next four years by building community. All ages are welcome and you can RSVP here: www.eventbrite.com/e/day-of-bel...

That’s right, the state of our labor movement is strong. Congrats @seiu.org and @aflcio.org on joining forces. I look forward to continuing our work together to support workers and advance justice.

It was an honor to break bread with so many powerful Black women leaders and to be recognized with the “Unbought and Unbossed” award. While we continue the work of abolition and liberation, we must also be unapologetic and intentional about our joy.

Today I watched as VP Harris certified the results of the 2024 election. A powerful act of patriotism & service. A solemn moment as we steady ourselves for this next Administration. An important moment for everyone who believes in democracy & a peaceful transfer of power.

President Carter embodied compassion and an unwavering commitment to humanity and public service. His faith in God and practicing that faith informed his life's work of building a more just, equitable, and peaceful world. I’m thinking of his family and everyone who loved him.

By commuting the sentences of 37 people on death row, President Biden is demonstrating the type of moral and compassionate leadership this moment demands.

There is no action more powerful or righteous than sparing someone’s life, and today President Biden is doing just that. My full statement on his historic death penalty clemency action:

State-sanctioned murder is not justice. President Biden must commute the sentences of the 40 people on death row and re-sentence them to a prison term. youtu.be/KBPXN6KY_JE?...

Thanks to Musk and Trump, Republicans are about to shut down the government and harm our most vulnerable. The people deserve better.

Our siblings in the labor movement stand on the side of justice calling for President Biden to continue using clemency to change and save lives. Our destinies are tied and the President must keep going. seiu.org/2024/12/nati...

“There are so many people with contributions to make, and they’re not being afforded the opportunity” @ayannapressley.bsky.social draws personal inspiration as she urges President Biden to commute more sentences.

President Biden granting clemency for over 1,500 people is meaningful, transformative, and life-changing.

Clemency changes and saves lives. And thanks to President Biden, 1,500 families will have their lives changed forever. www.bostonglobe.com/2024/12/12/m...

Congrats App Drivers Union! Organized power is realized power, and this is an important step toward the dignified, sustainable work you deserve. So proud to stand with you, @32bjseiu.bsky.social, and @machinistsunion.bsky.social every step of the way. www.boston.com/news/local-n...

The Republican Party has never been serious about governing.

Rep. Ayanna Pressley had been hoping to see Biden use his pardon power during his final weeks in office, but she had a different way in mind. She's pushing him for even more sweeping action to grant clemency to those she feels are being unreasonably punished by the criminal justice system:

In the final days of his presidency, President Biden must use his clemency authority. For the families—disproportionately Black and brown, with loved ones behind the wall—impacted by mass incarceration and the injustices of the legal system.

NEW: Biden has the lowest presidential pardon record in modern history After he pardoned his son, criminal justice advocates are wondering why he hasn’t looked at the thousands of clemency petitions on his desk “He must act,” Rep. Ayanna Pressley said www.notus.org/whitehouse/b...

Top House Democrat calls on Biden to pardon ‘working-class Americans’

President Biden has an opportunity to cement his legacy as one of the most compassionate and impactful presidents of our time. For the families impacted by mass incarceration, he must act. #ClemencyNOW

I'm thinking of all the people who pose no threat to society & whose lives are deteriorating due to our mass incarceration crisis & unjust criminal legal system. For the families harmed by mass incarceration, President Biden must act. Here's my statement on his pardon this week.

I sat down with the @bostonglobe.com to talk about this election and where we go from here. If we’re serious about making progress, we can’t moderate our aspirations or leave vulnerable folks behind. www.bostonglobe.com/2024/11/25/n...

Wishing everyone in the #MA7 a Happy Thanksgiving full of gratitude, great food, and time spent with loved ones. I'm grateful for the honor of serving as your Congresswoman.

This Thanksgiving, due to mass incarceration, many families will gather with an empty seat at the table. President Biden can use his clemency power to address it, reunite families, & set our nation on a path to healing. He must take action while he still can. theappeal.org/biden-commut...
