Nach aktuellem Stand ist der Täter von Magdeburg ein islamkritischer AFD Fan, der sich tief in rechten Verschwörungstheorien verloren hat. Das hindert Akteure der rechtsextremen Szene wie Frau Weidel nicht, das Attentat sofort zu instrumentalisieren, denn der Attentäter heißt Taleb, nicht Tobias.
