Reposting our microPublication now indexed in PubMed: We analyzed the movement of the unicellular green alga Chlamydomonas using #DeepLabCut, a deep learning-based tracking tool originally developed for animal behavior studies. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40331205/ Original videos: 🧵 #protistsonsky

Oxygen gradients shape E. coli motility patterns as they run away from O2! - 😍

Asked similar question before but I try again. Anyone knows proteins that localize like this? This protein is present in diplonemids/bodonids/euglenids/Naegleria, which have two flagella, but not in trypanosomatids that have just one flagellum. Potentially interesting for flagella/cilia community?

We have posted our new #preprint regarding the track recognition mechanism of dynein-2 that works in #cilia on bioRxiv @biorxivpreprint.bsky.social!! www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1... 1/8 🧵

Dynein-2 is tuned for the A-tubule of the ciliary doublet through tubulin tyrosination https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2025.01.27.635025v1

Proud to be part of this paper published in @naturecomms.bsky.social. Using high-speed AFM, we have visualized the real-time translocation of substrate polypeptide by the single molecule of SecYEG-SecA!!! Please check this amazing video taken by high-speed AFM!!! www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Happy New Year from the northside of Japan🌅🎍❄️

Did you know #diatoms are motile? These tiny glass cells have no cilia or flagella and a rigid body yet can glide on surfaces using a specialised slit in the cell wall called the raphe! What is the functional morphology of the raphe? All revealed in our new preprint www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

Hey researchers (especially non-native speakers of English), do you use generative AI to write papers? If so, how do you (or how should we) acknowledge it? I haven't, but am thinking how to write next one.

I thought I had a picture of Ginkgo in the Koishikawa Botanical Garden of the University of Tokyo, but actually it was "精子発見のソテツ" (cycad from which sperm were discovered). April 2024

Mitosis in a green alga. The cell grows until it is tetralogy, then divides twice to form 4 new haploid cells. This is one of my study algae, Oophila amblystomatis, a symbiotic green alga. #protistsonsky #protistaday

I already talked to some people, but as a member of Associate Editorial Board of Cytoskeleton Journal, I am putting together a special issue "Structures of microtubules and microtubule-related proteins". #microtubule #structure #cytoskeleton

As a new PI (had a lab in this summer), I'm also wondering: in what case to post arXiv/bioRxiv and in what case not to? Probably different between biology/physics and theory/simulation/experiment...🤔

Was trying to obtain #bioRxiv information and automatically write into Discord using #Python . Want a Raspberry Pi to run regularly. Keyword extraction by Spacy does not always work... #pyladies
