The financial market impact (see: government bailouts for investors) when the AI bubble bursts is going to make the dot-com bubble look like a fart in a tornado.

TTRPG’s are a great way to trial-run scenarios to see how people react. The results range between genius level problem solving skills, and the vigorous application of brute force, but it’s always nice to see people poke holes in my carefully crafted scenarios that I would never have thought of.

You missed one sir: Tangerine Palpatine.

It’s a very expensive upgrade to be sure, but the monthly savings on the power bills are significant enough to make it worth it.

Ours was 15 years old & died last summer. The builder was cheap, installing undersized units for the sqft of the homes. We went from a 3T to 5T unit (the correct size for the house), high efficiency. It cost a small fortune, but cut $150-200/mo off our power bills & does a great job regulating temp.

And it’s an excellent read! Very well done. I’m looking forward to your next bit of fun in the D&D sandbox.

We’re half a fascism away from The Running Man. Maybe less.

Have you played Far Cry: Blood Dragon? It seems like it would be your thing.

The last one, failure of arresting cable on landing, really sucks. The enlisted crew responsible for maintenance of the arresting gear is going to get the blame, regardless of the actual reason, because accountability is held to the lowest achievable level wherever possible.

The boat that slid off the side can be attributed to being in-motion when Truman made an emergency high speed turn to avoid incoming fire. How the battle group allowed Houthi’s to get close enough to actually engage the carrier is a question/ass chewing for the group commander.

Only one of the incidents can be attributed to incompetence; the fighter that was shot down by USS Gettysburg. That should never have happened; several officers are going to lose their jobs for that magnitude of screwup. CO of the Gettysburg, Weapons Officer, Truman’s Air Boss & Ops Officer to start

I can’t wait to hear some right-wing mouthpiece try to spin the concept of Derp Trümpenfüher being somehow “genetically superior” and trying to sell sleeping with his Gooberspawn to female MAGA cultists. I specifically use the word sell because you know they can’t pass up any opportunity to grift.

Intellectuals, the physically or mentally divergent, ethnic minorities…the playbook is strikingly similar. Next up, a MAGA themed Lebensborn program.

Reminds me of the Smart Gremlin stock trader scene from Gremlins 2: m.youtube.com/watch?v=1JIT... Canned food, shotguns…if enough people have their retirement savings wiped out, might want to add guillotines to the list.

Small town municipalities will be fine; corporate vultures like Blackrock will buy out single family properties from downsized/unemployed owners, & replace the homes with half-million dollar 1,200-1,500sqft cookie-cutter crapbox rental homes. The muni will get their property tax pound of flesh.

Someone needs to add “Oracle of the Apocalypse” to your list of official titles.

I would like to try one of those. I use a Keurig at work for convenience & speed, but at home I still like that navy-style drip machine.

Never doubt the determination of old people (Schumer is 74) to use every tool at their disposal to force young people into their service. Schumer doesn’t care that he’s slitting democracy’s throat, so long as he gets to hold on to *his* wealth/power/authority unto death.

They belong to the same donor-class paymasters who own/fund the GOP; so it’s unsurprising that those eight are going to follow the same directives from the people writing their bribe/“campaign contribution” checks.

Trump economic policy has wiped out 5% of my retirement savings in a *week*. The only fiscal/economic skill Republicans have demonstrated since taking power is the ability to #DefundThe401k.
comment in response to post
You can take every Republican in the House & Senate who votes in support of Trump’s economic insanity, and run ads with their face, name, vote date, and #DefundThe401k. Make this *the* issue for 2026/2028.
comment in response to post
Trump / GOP economic policy has done more to #DefundThe401K in the last *week* than all four years of the Joe Biden presidency combined.

When someone says “AI” what executives hear is,”productivity without payroll expenses.” This triggers the executive brain to release the same chemical cocktail as an extremely intense orgasm. Explains why the executive class *loves* AI.

MAGA cultists may like their hats, but good luck convincing hungry people to eat them.
comment in response to post
The GOP has to distract the base with culture war nonsense; if they stopped complaining about women, black, & brown people long enough to pay attention to grocery bills, homeowners insurance rate increases, and/or property tax increases, Derp & Co. will have problems.

8) With prosperity in progress, shift social focus from economic to cultural issues. 9) Go To Step 1 & repeat (Bush Jr./Obama, Trumpenfüher/Biden, etc.).

American Recession Cycle: 1) Elect Republican (Bush Sr.), 2) Enact right-wing voodoo economic policy, 3) Recession, 4) Shift social focus from cultural to economic issues, 5) Elect Democrat (Clinton), 6) Repair economy by enacting sensible economic policy. 7) End recession, begin growth period. /1

I give it less than a week before Derp Trumpenfüher puts out an Executive Order repealing all regulations on whale hunting, “so long as the whales are gay.”

As for Papyrus, poor quality “fake papyrus” is already made from banana leaf & sugar cane; so Florida, Louisiana, & Texas farmers can also get in on the trade wars to make up for the potential scarcity of Canadian paper stock.
comment in response to post
Snark, sure, but potentially practical considering the tariff/trade war scenario with China. If China bans agricultural products from import, specifically pork, corporate hog farms in the Carolinas are going to need to either kill a whole lot of hogs for no profit, or find new markets…like vellum.
comment in response to post
Didn’t see vellum or papyrus making a comeback these days, but well, here we are.

The executive order(s) & directives to the Secretary of the Interior to “review, revise, & rescind” protections against mineral extraction on public lands, including national parks, is going take away public resources & privatize the profits from developing/utilizing them.
comment in response to post
Tariffs are a (painful) distraction. While the media attention is focused on the shiny object (tariffs), and the resulting impact on stock markets, the quiet rollback or elimination of environmental protections & mineral exploitation rights on public lands is being completely ignored.

Great way for Congress-critters to engage further in corruption, not to mention the Cheeto In Chief.
