This looks great, nice work

Thank you very much for saying so. I’m glad you like it 🤓

That’s made my day. A very welcome confidence boost, thank you for taking the time to say so

Nice! How did you find working with cloth physics? I personally didn’t enjoy it at the time because I felt like I couldn’t even follow tutorials to achieve the same results - but it was very much worth it in the end.

Thank you

It really does 🤣 Plus my code is littered with comments like: // TODO - fix this later

Yeah, I struggled too. I thought it would be something I’d be good at as I used to love Flash animation etc but yeah, I found it fiddly and convoluted.

I really love how this looks. Understated but with a good depth to it. Nice one

Thank you. That means a lot as I can see you have great taste in games and TV (Twin Peaks), subscribed to you on YouTube just now.

True. I think I might see if I can make a half decent trailer using what I have so far. I think I’ll be able to. This has been really useful advice, thank you again

That’s good to know and reassuring thank you. Wasn’t sure if everyone would ‘hard pass’ on something with no trailer and it’d be forever lost in the backwaters of Steam.

Very true. I’m maybe seeing this too much as a final promo when actually, yeah, I can easily amend the content of the page as I go. I’m sure I can cobble a very short teaser together and expand it later. Thank you

Thank you this is good to know

I sadly don't think it's too dramatic to suggest that. Whilst the 'advancement' of technology has caused in some ways hard labour (and thought processes) to be given over to something else - a calculator, a computer, etc., this feels like a much more drastic and widespread change for the worse.

….But if AI is being used to create finished products such as games, music, artwork, novels etc - there’s nothing else left for us as humans other than to consume or make money. And that leaves us with nowhere to go. 2/2

A very interesting point which made me think of something that’s not occurred to me before. Tasks like calculations, computations etc were a means to an end. Handing those functions over to a machine meant more time to work on the end product originally being facilitated by those functions… 1/2

I was pretty ambivalent on gen AI at first. It was a curiosity and genuinely impressive but as time has gone by I also feel the same. It might sound dramatic and bleak but I honestly think some people will completely lose the ability to think for themselves (even more so than today)

Nice! Definitely will have a look at Godot for sure. Unreal just seemed impenetrable to me at the time, may still be the case + for the sort of game I’ll be making for the foreseeable it was almost too slick + polished. I may be showing my ignorance here but that was my impression

I’m working on my first game and really enjoyed using Unity so far. It’s a great product but why do they seem hell-bent on courting PR disasters for a few extra quid? I’m in way too deep with my first game but it does mean I will be giving Godot a consideration for my next project.

Looking great so far. Really captures the feel of a UK inner city underground car park (£15 an hour). Nice work

Very impressive. Beautifully sinister atmosphere

Love the way this looks. Nice work!

First ever Unity tutorial I completed (a rocket platform game) was one of Rick’s. I still occasionally think in his voice when I’m stuck and trying to figure out what to do. 🚀🤓
comment in response to post
🤣 they won’t be expecting that
comment in response to post
Absolutely. Mayfly (my game) has a very simple inventory system but for example if I decided to expand it and add a category field to every item it would be very easy to do with scriptable objects.
comment in response to post
I found them perfect for creating generic/templated objects like collectables and interactables. So for example I created a ‘Collectable’ scriptable object with fields defined eg; name, description, isCollected etc.

Looks beautiful 🤩

Unity for me. Still working on my first game and Unreal Engine felt overwhelming to me at the time. Godot was off the radar completely back when I started.

You’re so right. I like that framing. I also might set Mayfly in another dimension where the lighting is a bit weird and so it’s justified in the plot.
