they 100% did this to challenge birthright citizenship in the supreme court right? based on what I've read, this has jumped out to me as one of the primary reasons to do this other than them just being cruel and incompetent. Could also be both.

The last time I was on a plane (flying from georgia to california), I had an almost 2 hour conversation with the guy next to me and it was great. I am introverted as well, but in grad school it is so hard to just talk to random people because everyone walking has earbuds in

I have multiple relatives that are public educators. It's really interesting how quickly views shift if you are close/know a teacher compared to if you don't. Seeing "they have 3 months off" as a reason to why they should get paid so little is insane

i can't wait to get hit by a self-driving car and not know who to sue. my chances of getting central ohio to become more bike friendly by the time I finish grad school and finally leave here seem to be diminishing.

i don't trade stocks at all (very poor grad student atm) or is it my specialty (I only know physics). To my untrained eye, the top 7 companies in the stock market are all massively overvalued.

yes of course! I ask for links specifically and then follow through on them, about 50% of the time for "known" topics it will give me good links. other times however... that's why I think it varies on if it saves time or costs times so much

I think the biggest flaw of them, or rather how most people use them, is that nobody asks for it to supply links to what it's sourcing nor will do followups and takes what it says verbatim. I think using it as an aggregator and then cross referencing is good. Sometimes this is NOT more timeefficient

LLMs have pluses and minuses but for certain things they are just plain better. If you use them to explain a broadly known topic, say something in physics, and then you make sure you double check what it says, it can lead you down paths you otherwise wouldn't have gotten through just google.

my dog is the exact same, it is hard to explain to most other dog owners since everyone that I know gets woken up by their dog at the same time everyday. it makes having other people watch her much easier too

i'll be honest, i don't know what half of those words mean but yeah I think this answered my question

i'm just frustrated because i lack motivation and suck at tests anyways. I preferred take-home exams, just stinks to be punished

I understand AI kind of ruined this, but also if you write your own exams and/or don't just reuse the same thing over and over again you minimize how useful it is compared to just reading notes. I realize time is valuable but I'd like to spend my time doing thing applicable to my future...

i don't care about the catholic church workings at all, but the movie was pretty interesting. it was enough to where reading this book seems enjoyable

interestingly their stock is currently doing really well. is there any real reason for this or are people just buying the dip?

indiana is just a worse ohio, at every level. and that's a really hard thing to do

the biggest thing that i've been trying to have people to do is to have them ask chatgpt for a link to source the info and when that doesn't work, actually good it to see what comes up. but that requires using your brain, which chatgpt does not require at all

All of this while having crippling fears of failing for the first time in my life, which has caused me to pull away from people around me, ruin relationships with people and makes me super lethargic. I'm ok with failing, but going into grad school I don't want to make those who helped mean nothing

who knows, maybe therapist will help me navigate through all this. I've just had whiplash the past 8 months going from having the time of my life just doing research full time to getting thrown into classes I could give two shits about and then ALSO figuring out I have ADHD.

idk, i have to vent somewhere. going to therapy (finally) and I think have medication figured out. the only thing that is currently fucking me over is social media (ironic), sleep, and video game addiction (lifelong lmao). I feel like a failure, not to anyone but myself

it's stupid, i can't reframe the way I did in undergrad to make it "just pass these classes to do what you want to do" probably because I'm already doing what I want to do and classes are literally just a super time intensive distraction. Having focusing issues on top makes it legitimately impossibl

being diagnosed with ADHD has been an extreme help, but it doesn't change the fact that I've felt lost in my classes. Not because it's necessarily hard (it is, but I've done harder things), but I think it's because I legitimately has ZERO interest in doing homeworks or anything and it's shitty

i guess i forgot PLEX isn't even open source, which makes it even more frustrating LMAO

this has been my experience with all things open source. it's either the most intuitive, amazing experience OR it's the most complicated ass backwards convoluted shitstorm possible. When you find the first type though, it's awesome
