Is a recipe book a system or an adventure?

This too is OSR.

This evening played Great Heathen Army Logistics Simulator 2016 (A Feast for Odin).

This sounds like a bit but I’m being serious: kids using chat gpt for their homework are denying themselves the invaluable experience of learning how to bullshit their way through a problem. You drink some caffeine the night before and figure it the fuck out. That’s a skill. You need it in life.

Microscope, Blades in the Dark, and Into the Odd all fit in the category of roleplaying games the same way Splendor, Catan, and Root are all board games. Board games have some terms to distinguish different types. I'm not sure we have any convenient shorthands for RPGs. Outside of scenes.

it's always interesting to see that a lot of people assume adventure module = overwritten railroad trash. if you've only ever seen what the big boys are doing, i can't entirely blame them, although you'd hope they'd see other people enjoying the form and look a little deeper

The only Superman comic I've read is Red Son, so I don't think I have a grasp of how Lex Luthor is typically portrayed. But. We don't need to give fictional billionaires relatable motivations. They'll be put on a collision course with any supe worth the name just doing normal billionaire shit.

Are there that many recent examples of people releasing a TTRPG system and then pivoting to a career in another field? I know a few TSR-era people who went on to careers in digital games. But the couple I can think of were primarily adventure designers (Zeb Cook & Janell Jaquays). (1/2)

A 3-player game of ARCS with Leaders and Lore. A Corsair of the Living Cities won a cultural victory over the Rebel and the Fuel Drinker.

New blog post on ACRLog, "AI Refusal in Libraries: A Starter Guide." Got a lot of comments during a recent presentation that people hadn't heard of the concept of AI refusal, so here's some places to start. 📚 acrlog.org/2025/06/11/a...

I don't mean this as a specific dig against Isaac or Mausritter. But, I absolutely don't want to say "Yes, count me in!" I want to click "save" and get a reminder email when the project launches. Framing it as a commitment makes me less likely to click the button!

Act 2 of our second ARCS: Blighted Reach campaign last night. I remained the Caretaker and vied for control of the sector with the Believer, the Warden (formerly the Admiral), and the Pirate (formerly the Magnate).
