I became an atheist in highschool 15 or so years ago and supported trans people from that point onwards.

I don't understand how someone's reaction to a friend being deported could be like this.

I guess another example is when Lincoln was shot.
It worked out for progressives though when McKinley was assassinated, because we got the first progressive since Lincoln after.

I think all of those are closer in ideology even when they belong to different factions. With AOC and FDR you'd really want someone who is at least a committed socdem with a scepticism of capitalism.

There is also nothing stopping AOC from elevating a non-politician into the VP role if it's a good choice.

Yeah, it'll kinda be like 2020. I still liked Warren, but there was no shot I would support her over Sanders.

Walz isn't as good as someone like Bernie Sanders, but how many Bernie Sanders type politicians are out there to pick from?
comment in response to

Walz would be good but he'd likely be too old when it's his turn.

Example of this going wrong is when FDR died and the New Deal agenda was abandoned, because the VP was more conservative.
comment in response to
post
Reason for this is that the VP generally is seen as the successor and it's extremely important that the pick can continue the ideology of AOC.
comment in response to

I think Walz is a good VP pick but ideally we'd want someone who is ideologically similar and still appears "old", but is actually younger than Walz.

Noteworthy that AOC still retained the endorsement of the local NYC DSA.

Also, the industrial space surrounds the Queensboro public houses, which is extremely isolating for the residents there. It was obviously done intentionally many years ago and it should be done away with.

He famously was opposed to Obama winning the nomination lol.

He also gave Republicans control over the state senate.

Switch parties then. Coward.

A lot of elected NY leftist pols are accepting of the yimby platform, they are just heavily focused on expanding state capacity for construction. This is why any solution will likely require both upzoning and state development.

It's actually a really good project. Will transform the area from a car sewer into one of the densest areas in Queens.

Less parking spaces and more affordable units was the compromise.

I wouldn't really say the two examples given are great. Both the Target and the Sunnyside yards are complicated.

I feel like these polls are still too heavily factoring in name recognition

Sending people to a concentration camp in El Salvador is bad and bringing attention to it is the only way rando voters will realize this.

She considers herself a democratic socialist, but is advocating for mostly socdem reforms. Nothing wrong with that. She is basically the same as Sanders.

8/ This is a watershed moment, as Trump thumbs his nose at a Supreme Court ruling, gaslighting the public by pretending his won 9-0 when he lost 9-0.
If we normalize this, there's no end. He can lock up or remove anyone. We will no longer exist in a democracy.

The idea that a guy who ensured Republican rule in Albany would be better for unions than Brad Lander or Zohran Mamdani is laughable. What's happening here is that the union leadership thinks Cuomo is going to win and is afraid to cross him. Total cowards.

Those voters would vote for a Republican if they could. They will vote for whoever the Dem party picks.

I just want her to try to help defeat Cuomo

I just worry they will overdo it and turn it into Serious Sam, which is basically just bland open levels where you kill wave after wave of enemy.
