Only king? Surely King, Saviour of the World and Emperor of the Universe? P.S. This is how the British newspaper the Daily Star represented him today.

The Nazis has the support of most of the military and police who were happy to switch to a personal allegiance to Hitler. What would US personnel do if asked to switch from upholding the Constitution to a personal allegiance to Donald Trump?

The US has a habit of withdraing into isolationism from time to time. The twice in the 20C led to great waste of lives and money by both the US and others.

No, but I can think of several people who think they are a genius but others do not.

We know that the reduction of the right-to-buy discount brought a tsunami of applications getting the bigger discount in the time before the deadline so this needs to be done with a deadline of last week!

Britain lost 4 cruisers to submarines in September 1914 alone. Subs had to be in wait but surface ships rarely used full speed and didn't always zig-zag. Aircraft, including airships, mainly used for reconnaissance in WW1 but that became an important part of intelligence.

Currently reading Laurence Rees' new psychological history book The Nazi Mind and reached the bit where Hitler is Chancellor, the Nazis are illegally killing people and many politicians, business leaders and judges are saying that that is fine. Massive contemporary resonance.

But that concoction of canvass, sticks and wire the Wright brothers flew 3 years earlier and the submersibles developed by JP Holland from 1875 meant that Dreadnought and all her successors were already obsolete, or at least obsolescent.

'm currently reading Laurence Rees' new book The Nazi Mind and I've just got to the bit where Hitler is Chancellor, the Nazis are illegally killing people and many politicians, business leaders and judges are saying that that is fine. Massive number of contemporary resonances.

Then why is the UK right arguing that the UK should leave the European Convention on Human Rights which guarantees these things (and which the UK right helped set up 70+ years ago)?

Near me is a university hall of residence where many of the Chinese students wear masks in all social situations.

Perhaps I should mention that I have a weakened immune system, have had Covid twice (fortunately only after being vaccinated) and always wear a mask in crowded places.

What's the point of these, then?

I'm currently reading a UK copy of The Nazi Mind by Laurence Rees. Everything I've read so far has contemporary echoes. It will be published in the US in May. I recommend everyone to read it!

Is she saying that her own experience of integration, or the lack thereof, caused her to become an extremist?

No, but in the same way that Trump is 100% transactional, supporting whatever action will help him regardless of consistency and logic, a lawyer will argue one case in court one week and the exact opposite for a different client the next week.

Are there parallels between Starmer and Trump? Late entrant to politics, no clear philosophy and tendancy to react to events rather than lead?

Do it and then ... make these three changes. 1. Leveson2 (a no-brainer). 2. US law requires US media to be US owned. A similar law here (also requiring paying UK tax). 3. Equivalent safeguards for online media.

Tories generally see an equivalence between CEOs, boards of directors and shareholders of companies and General Secretaries, Executive Committees and members of unions.

Until they get to another page of the authoritarian manual and block foreign online media it will be possible to get some information from external sources, e.g. Canada.

A great shame. The ninth President, William Henry Harrison, used to show how fit he was by going out in the cold and wet without a coat and hat. He died of pneumonia exactly one month after a cold and wet inauguration.

... and I read that the Mail has acquired the dairies of Unity Mitford, the upper class Englishwoman who was obsessed with Hitler and shot herself the day war between Germany and England started. An extereme example of a lot of the establishment.
