I found Fear & Loathing on the Campaign Trail on my Dad’s bookshelf when I was an impressionable teen just getting into politics. Directly led to Boys on the Bus, then Tom Wolfe, then Beats, and so much more.

I think reporting on, writing about and understanding of all this is a totally legitimate undertaking. Biden's decision was, indeed, consequential. But given the context of well...everything, it seems *insane* for anyone to say this is some kind of unresolved political issue Dems must address.

I got one of these for Xmas and bought a bunch of cassettes on Bandcamp and some vintage stuff on eBay/etsy. There are lots out there of varying quality and many new bands are actually releasing new music on cassettes

And I’m not really interested in litigating the question of whether the outcome is different if there’s a Dem primary etc. It’s just not worth it at this point. Focus on the problem at hand

Why do people keep removing the agency of the tech bros and their enablers from this potential AI Armageddon? Why aren’t these pieces titled: “insane asshole tech CEOs chasing naked profit and domination could kill us all with AI”

But the one thing that I keep thinking when I see items warning about AI is they are all phrased the same way: “AI is an existential threat” or “AI could destroy the planet” or “AI is going to become sentient and launch the nukes on us” etc etc.

I am not knowledgeable on the current state of AI. Or forecasts for its near future or beyond. I’ve seen other warnings like this too. And I LOVED Alex Garland’s DEVS.

I picked up a copy of The Onion every week it was in print from that first day on. Until it wasn’t in print anymore. My dad is a devoted reader these days too. It’s about time The Onion is back in print! Great work everyone involved! America needs The Onion!! 4/4 @theonion.com
