Bei solchen Aussagen würde ich schon eine Quellenangabe erwarten. Darf man fragen, was mit "meinen Erkenntnissen" konkret gemeint ist, @ilkokowalczuk.bsky.social?

Y’all

Large-scale loss of Mediterranean coastal marshes under rising sea levels by 2100 www.nature.com/articles/s43... "For Egypt, France, and Algeria, we predict (near) total loss of coastal marshes by 2100..." @claudiawolff.bsky.social @avafeidis.bsky.social

I'm handling a manuscript and have invited seventeen reviewers. So far, the responses are: no response, declined, declined, no response, declined, declined, declined, declined, declined, no response, no response. One person has turned in a review and I'm still trying to find a second reviewer.

Senior scholars: I know that the publishing and peer review system is broken. But opting out of a broken system doesn’t hurt Elsevier/Sage/etc—it hurts junior scholars just trying to get papers out there.

Everything is in flux. We could be accelerating towards a transition, and we don't know the end state. In this casual diagram, perhaps the best ever drawn, Fogel tries to make sense of the events that led to the anti-slavery coalition's eventual victory. www.nber.org/system/files...

Nice paper by my former @ufz.de colleague Julian Massenberg (now at @au.dk) on public preferences for #rewilding in the German Oder Delta: link.springer.com/article/10.1...

@econ4ua.bsky.social is organizing an open letter to the future German chancellor (Germany is holding elections Sunday), urging them to lead and stand up to Russia. docs.google.com/document/d/1...

Interessanter Artikel, spannende Diskussionen in den Drukos (über Potenziale und Grenzen von Mischkulturen, Relevanz von Grenzstandorten etc.).

A picture puzzle: Somewhere in this crowd of marine scientists there is an environmental economist who normally works on agricultural landscapes. (Picture from last week's General Assembly of BIOcean5D, taken by Eduardo Rubio)

Pretty cool when a pretty good interdisciplinary scientific journal asks permission to use a photo you made (and used for your paper's plain language summary) for the cover of its next issue. Especially if you mostly don't really invest much effort in taking pictures😉

quite a few academics need to hear this

Pssst — a secret message for German-speaking science friends: There’s an open slot in the curation schedule for @realscide.bsky.social next month. Get in touch with me via DM if you feel like taking over the account for a week!

Agronomic ecologists should stop assuming that more pest predators automatically mean more pest control. Predator abundance ≠ pest predation.
