Totally agree. When I said music industry I meant the industry with a capital “I”. Smaller musicians without corporate protections will experience similar challenges to visual artists.

And for a lot of us, it hasn’t really been much worse tbh it’s often been better. Taking a strong stance to forsake Twitter gives others the courage to do the same. The goal is inspiring clients and artists to move over, it’s not the platform that supports us it’s them after all

I thinks it’s totally fair if you want to keep using Twitter if it means you can keep paying the bills. My main point is that if we continue to use platforms that exploit artists it signals that they can get away with more. Many of us have taken the risk for the long term goal of change.

Exactly how I feel. I dropped 57k followers to be here and it shocked me how little it affected my reach. Unfortunately this won’t be the case for everyone and there will be growing pains, but I think the long term goal is worth it. Making sure you don’t bank on one platform too much is important.

This was exactly my problem. Nearly 60k on Twitter but my commission reach never reflected it. Twitter specifically suppresses your ability to do business by flagging keywords and links that assist us in actually making money.

The majority of the small accounts I’ve seen make the switch from to this site have done much better here. Usually, only the larger accounts see a downgrade. Like I said, change isn’t easy and there will be setbacks but compromising on your morals has diminishing returns, when is enough enough?

artists are so used to being exploited that they literally don't know how to stand up for themselves, ever wonder why the music industry hasn't had the same issue with AI we have? We are undervalued as creators and a lack of support systems leaves us vulnerable. Be brave and show them you matter.
