"thrown to the ground or shot"....absolutely...and for doing much less than even asking that.

Jesus…a quick search will turn up dozens of videos of people doing just this before getting thrown to the ground or shot

...and these (most likely) other Trump supporters didn't see his words and actions as "extremist." When you're wallowing in sh*t...you all smell the same.

Really curious on how “extremism” is defined

I’m old enough to remember Walz calling them weirdos and firing up the base…only to be neutered and losing all of that momentum.

If they got Pelosi and Pence, the news would be all “political polarization at its worst…both sides suffer great loss”

It's been nice trying to have a discussion with you, but you're arguing with some imaginary person in your head. I never once said any of that stuff. Have a nice day and remember that we all need to be working together in this

Yes...but Ds consistently water their message down by tacking to the right. Case in point is "Obamacare": it was a Republican bill. The fight was not for "everyone should have health care" but "this is the best we can do."

By "mythical center" I mean the thinking that Liz Cheney is going to help drive new Democratic voters to the polls. The issue is that the ways Ds have been campaigning is doing nothing to EXPAND their base. Liz Cheney excited only those who were already going to vote.

Ds are trying to attract a mythical center while ignoring (at best) or deriding (most often) a large swath of potential voters who are BEGGING for them to fight for VALUES. Ds are still locked in technocrat mode while many are just clamoring for heart

I'm thinking one aspect you're missing is that Dem's aren't giving a large swath of their potential base something to believe in. Rs have expanded their electorate by feeding rancid racist paranoia.

The thing that really sucks is that Ds will win huge IN SPITE OF this centrist message but, like in 2020 and 2022 will view it as a validation of centrism so we'll be right back on this BS in 2028 of 2032 (assuming there are still elections)

I get the sense that a lot of people see protesting as cringe because they don't understand what it accomplishes, and I get that... to them, I say: just go. Experience what it feels like to be part of a Very Large Crowd of your fellow citizens. That feeling has radical political implications.

Then get off your butt and SHUT THE SENATE DOWN

What would actually expand the tent to include conservatives is to offer them not a weak strain of the same thing, but something different—to actually embody unshakeable ideals of universal human rights that are not up for debate, and make that the center pole of our tent—a pole, not a poll.

High profile Dems SERIOUSLY need to start pushing back whenever Rs trash Chicago; LA; "librul America". It is SO INFURIATING that Rs are allowed to say whatever they want about blue America without any push back

Actually, Schumer is all for the kitchen table shelter credit, but is waiting on a ruling from the Senate Parliamentarian.

Not to mention that Newsome has clear and obvious designs on the presidency and definitely knows he can burnish his fighting credentials with this.

I chalk the hard time they're having finding their footing up to the malfeasance of the Dem leadership undercutting them and/or sucking up the oxygen with lackluster and weak "responses" of their own.
