I've got some expanded thoughts on yesterday's State of the Science event.

Is anyone else disturbed by the constant influx of 🤖 ? Any way you can help this @safety.bsky.app @bsky.app ? Faceless profile ✅ Inflammatory and combative comments/posts ✅ A silly number of followers and following ✅ 🧪 #bluesky

Interested in the microbiome? Don’t miss this meeting at CalTech in September!

🔊To chemotaxers, biofilmers, twitchers, swarmers, and swimmers, please consider nominating a deserving colleague for an ASM award! ➡️Due July 1st. asm.org/academy/acad... 🧪🦠🧫 #microsky #IDsky @blastmeetings.bsky.social

We are "microthanatologists" and we are getting better at killing our microbes of interest! Micro: small Thanatology: the study of death 🧪🦠🧫 #IDsky

First gen proud! Nice to see an analysis from the chemistry PoV

Thank you #bluesky for all your likes and shares of our #GoFundMe to support our continued research into new antibacterial medicines to treat Helicobacter infections and prevent stomach cancer and ulcers! #Medsky #gastroenterology #stomachcancer #cancer #helicobacter #antibiotics #ulcers

🧬Most stomach cancer starts with an infection. We’ve discovered new antibiotics that target the bacteria behind it — Helicobacter pylori — and they work where others fail. Help us prevent stomach cancer before it starts. 💡 Donate: gofund.me/1701bac3 🧪🦠🧫 #Gastrosky #IDsky #Cansky #OncoSky #IBDsky

🧪🔬🧫We have to watch this TONIGHT! Francis Collins will sit down for an interview on 60 Minutes and will outline the impacts of cuts to the NIH. Tune in! www.paramountpressexpress.com/cbs-news-and...

This is such a cool tool and exactly how we should have framed NIH research all along: Taxpayers fund scientists to understand disease and discover new treatments—and we deliver. It’s public investment that saves lives and improves health for everyone. Direct ROI. 🧪🧫 #IDsky #GastroySky

So excited to visit Indiana University next week! Looking forward to learning about the incredible science happening there & and sharing some of what our lab's been up to. 🧬🔬 I am bringing lots of visual aids for the talk 😁

Citrobacter swims, drawn to rich, liquid feces— a feast fuels its harm. 🦠🧪🧫 #chemotaxis

Bringing you your weekly update of chemotactic creepy crawlies. Here is a strain of E. coli isolated from a urinary tract infection being attracted to human 💩. Yummy! Each white dot is a bacterium. Interestingly the cells shaped like long pool noodles seem less interested. 🦠🧫🧪 #IDsky #gastrosky

When E. coli gets a whiff of fresh 💩 it’s game on. They use chemotaxis to swim towards the source and enjoy the buffet of tasty L-serine, L-aspartate, glucose & other nutrients. Bacteria do this inside your intestines everyday! 🧪🧫🦠 #IDsky #gastrosky #chemotaxis

Check out our recent review of clinical translation in the human microbiome field 💩🦠⚕️ 👇

🧪🧫 Which of these new putative drugs is more likely to make it to clinical trial? Your choices are a golden yellow powder or a lovely amber orange powder. Taking bets now - will reveal the answer in 5-10 years.
