Sorry... I couldn't make it through the whole video. I would LOVE to say that it's satire... but dude probably thinks he actually made a real banger.

With the book I'm querying, I did my best to write what feels like a soft-rational system. As the reader reaches later books, they watch as my characters learn the truth about the world they live in. Basically, it's a hard-rational system that is delivered in small doses.

Hi! I'm a conservative and I'm pro-life! That means I think missles on their way to kill kids are beautiful! I'm also anti-palistinian life. Please don't use my tax dollars to feed babies and little children even if they are my literal neighbors.
Atheists steal my values!

1. He was the only one saluting because, in civilian clothes, you're supposed to show respect by putting your right hand over your heart.
2. That's not a proper salute. His thumb is dangling, and his little hand is in front of his face like the sun's in his eyes.

I prayed to, like, 8 different gods so if one of them is real, you'll heal faster!
You're welcome!
But... if that god knows that I prayed to the other gods and gets jealous... they might make you heal slower out of spite... so ...
...
Sorry

That asshole left halfway through it. He snuck out when the team he pretended to like was getting stomped. I wonder how much it costs US to protect him and his diaper for half a game.
Then he posted a not-so-happy pic of Swift as if she was getting as many boos as he was.
What a piece of shit.

For centuries, Christians have debated which OT laws/rules/ect should abide by under Jesus' covenant. I've been to churches that ban instruments, women teachers, and working on the Sabbath. I've watched one Christian tell another that they aren't a real Christian. Do you agree so far?

I'm sorry... I shouldn't have assumed you know the bible as well as me. From now on, I'll ask questions and make sure we're on the same page rather than assume.

(sigh)
Jesus' writers say both that Jesus didn't come to change a jot or tittle of the old law AND that Jesus fulfills it, thus making some or all of it obsolete. How are you unaware of this!?! You're supposed to be the knowledgeable one here.

At this point, I must ask... do you even understand what "jot or tittle" is referring to? This link has nothing to do with my point.

This is by far the sickest thing you and other Christians casually say.
Remember this the next time you think to meme about US taking YOUR morality. That's fucking putrid... but I must say... it does align with your bible. I guess some Christians COULD smile while dashing a toddler against rocks.

Lovingly?
You dodge questions, poorly use memes, ignore answers... dude, I repeatedly told you I thought God was leading me to be a youth pastor and you had the audacity to pretend I only read the bible once... a pathetic dig at me despite the fact that I've be very cordial here.

Neither "My god is better than your god" nor "My God says that's MY land now" are not things non-believers hear and say "Sounds legit. Guess THAT genocide was a good one."

Side note: part of my way out of Christianity, I realized that every kiss isn't sexual. I kissed my wife goodbye tons of times, and it wasn't for or followed by sex. We love each other, so we kiss a lot. LGBTQA+ people are just people. Their every kiss isn't some deprived, loin-driven, sexual event.
comment in response to

You used the metric of "inherently wrong" so stick with it. Two dudes kissing is not inherently wrong. If so, explain how/why without using a silly meme. I'm open to being convinced.

I mean, the biblical god straight up tells one group to genocide the other so... SOME genocides are a product of "Sorry dude, but god says your house is mine... and that I have to kill your goat too. If it makes you feel better, I'll let your virgin daughter go if she doesn't please me."

Which is why I pointed out
Not a jot or tittle (should be enough since you read the bible sooooo many more times than me... sarcasm)
Pointing out Jephthah in the NT (+ Jesus references OT books) shows that one can't pretend OT stuff is inconsequential. Thus wanting the Jesus convo. Keep up

I said that life has no grand capital P purpose. Did you not read my answer?
I have a purpose or two and I'm pretty happy with my progress so far. I'm a good hubby, friend, dad, and a decent foster dad. I hope to be a published author someday.
I got fulfilling purposes. No gods required.

The time for @chevydem.bsky.social and I to believe there is a God is AFTER we find sound and valid reason to believe it. Until then, we are looking at hoofprints in a Zebra exhibit and saying "It's probably from a zebra" and you're saying it's from a unicorn.

Also, the fact the scholars are still debating this is LITERALLY THE POINT!!!
Are you not listening?
I'm saying that if I met Jesus, I'd ask all the stuff bible scholars have been arguing about. I swear, it's like you're not really listening. My goal is to find the truth... the hoof prints, dude.

Between the two of us, you're the one that seems like they haven't read the book much. It's clear you have no idea just how much the books contradict and misalign. Even the parts that are copied are odd. For instance, why would the writer of Matthew copy Mark when describing Jesus meeting Matthew?
comment in response to

Also, you missed the point.
OT: Man makes bet with God. God helps him genocide people. Man comes back home. God lets his daughter run out to him, then accepts the child sacrifice.
NT: Paul talked about dude in the same category as other "great" prophets and nobody says "BTW, god's against it now."
comment in response to

Your god's a character in a book.
The last thing you want is for someone to read about God making a bet with Satan, having a dude tortured, & killing kids over a bet. Have you read that shit? He had the dude's kids killed and said, "You won my bet! Here, take these new daughters. They're prettier"

These keep missing.
I'm not any more angry at any gods than I'm angry at Thanos or Palpatine. I can see they are villains the same way I can see your god as a villain, all the while feeling the three are fictional.
Please don't pretend that I hate any biblical characters. Let's be honest.

You're not very good at using memes. Nothing about the context of that verse changes the fact that Paul treats Jephthah (who murdered his own daughter for God's blessing) the same way that he treats other old prophets.
If you want to rebut that point, do so with the respect I've been showing you.

Your statement is woefully incomplete. FFS I guarantee you that if I got you, my dad, my MIL, Joel Osteen, the last three Christians you shook the hand of, and you 20 years from now and asked you what it means to "repent" or what it means to "remember the sabbath day and keep it holy."

Dude... it's not an argument. It's the decision every Jesus-follower must make when looking at the old law without Jesus specifically saying what is or isn't part of his covenant. I'm telling you that this was MY dilemma as a Christian.
comment in response to

Dude... that's literally my point.
I said that I'd ask Jesus to clear up so that "not a jot or tittle" becomes a list that makes sense.
comment in response to

Same for 2 dudes kissing, but I digress.
Many disagree with your interpretation. Fact remains that the OT is full of things you don't live by. Same for other Christians.
My point is that until ACTUAL Jesus is asked these things, we only have you, my dad, and everyone else bickering about A,B, or C

If you asked teen me, he'd have said "I feel God leading me to become a youth pastor."
Though I was sure that God was leading me to be one, I'm clearly not a youth pastor and I'm happy with my current purpose... so add that with the rest of the data.

Trick question.
I don't think there is a GRAND purpose with a capital P, however, it's clear that people can find their own purpose and live lives feeling happy and fulfilled without someone else telling them who they are supposed to be... so no.

I used to say that... but if I say that the car accident happened while Biden took office and you say that it happened the day Trump took office, can we honestly say that either of us are correct? We can't BOTH be right... yet that's how off Jesus' birth and death are described in different books.
comment in response to

Then slightly less god-aproved murder would've happened but you're missing the point. The POINT is that God approved of it, the New Testament writers didn't say otherwise, and Paul write to the Hebrews and mentioned Jephthah right along with David, Samuel, and other prophets. That's condoning.
comment in response to
post
Correct!
As a Christian, I tried to be like "But that's the Old Testament," but Hebrews 11:32 treats him like all the other prophets like David and Samuel. That means I couldn't pretend that the New Testament writers agreed that he was wrong to murder his kid to get his brothers to like him more.

Correction: Jesus was asked the greatest commandment in the Law. Jesus wasn't asked "What's the only commandment we must follow?" so let's not pretend Jesus said or meant to codify such a thing.

I'm being specific. There are several covenants in the old testament. We can:
A. assume all are in effect
B. all except for the ones that contradict what Jesus said/did
C. pick and choose which to believe
Most Christians do C by wearing mixed fabric and not killing who the bible says to kill.
comment in response to

In theory... but in reality, the writers of Matthew Mark Luke and John wasted words. They didn't agree on things. Back to the subject, they don't clarify which OT things needed tweaking. I mean... unless you're telling me we shouldn't wear mixed fabric, you're admitting an update is needed.

I wouldn't be doing a better job than Jesus... I'd use Jesus' words to do a better job than Paul, Peter, and the writers of the books people picked to be called the "gospel."
Remember... in this scenario, I literally talked to Jesus and he cleared up things about His covenant with us.
comment in response to

If could LITERALLY speak to Jesus. I'm saying that if I KNEW, then I would teach HIS word, not the crap other people messed up.
Slavery is condoned in the OT. The NT says how to be a good slave/master. (I'd ask Jesus to clarify.)
As for Child Sacrifice, Jesus gives Jeptha a shout-out... gross.

One of the biggest problems on my way out of Christianity was the fact that the New Testament writers never fleshed out our covenant with Jesus. He said "not a jot or tittle," yet contradicted/changed things from the old law. I'd ask him to spell out HIS covenant, and lead the way as He commands.
