do people have a one stop shop place they like for blu ray (that is not amazon)? barnes & noble…?

Last night at a bar the background TV was playing some sort of animated Japanese horror film that was so grotesque it made me a terrible conversation partner. Every time I looked up some upsetting bullshit was happening. I got home and looked it up and it was something called “uzumaki” by junji ito

This is the most wretched campaign of deliberate, explicit persecution the United States has perpetrated against a minority group in decades. Many of the most important people in politics and journalism are busying themselves trying to figure out how little to say or do about it.

don’t meet your heros. i finally saw the critters from redwall irl and they don’t even talk. they’re just pissing and shitting everywhere.

And there it is. Same holds for activists, writers, "free speech" orgs, arts institutions and everyone else who has been silent for 15 months.

MAJOR BREAKING: Pope Francis has written a letter to US Bishops saying he’s following “major crisis” of “mass deportations;” takes on Vance saying “The true ordo amoris that must be promoted is that which we discover by meditating constantly on the parable of the “Good Samaritan”

In 2001 the Bush White house found a lawyer who gave them a set of memos, culminating in one in particular, which said torture was legal. Afterwards, he had no bad consequences and was hired to teach at Yale Consequences for this sort of thing, or everything is a rehersal for the next, worse thing

iphone timer is measuring out my life with coffee spoons

just putting this out there……..

This is a sewing pattern. It is also a page from a late 14th century manuscript that is one of two primary sources for an important Icelandic saga (Sturlunga saga), but that was probably not important to the 17th century person who really needed a sewing pattern. #upcycling

everything i've ever thought of as "lynchian" was something that came before him—carnival of souls, overlord, last year at marienbad, night of the hunter—i feel like that is part of what makes his films feel special, like they're both new and old

#Gaza: The temporary ceasefire in #Gaza is a relief, but it comes after 465 days and 46,000 lives lost. This is just the beginning of addressing the immense humanitarian, and medical needs. All parties must respect the #ceasefire and ensure safe delivery of aid to those in need.

Just overheard someone walking on the street past my apartment shouting "No! Vampires are people! People who have been bitten by vampires!"

when people say this i also think they assume the space where there would be positive reviews for a book is being filled by negative reviews. actually the alternative is often nobody discussing your book at all.

Fix your hearts or die.

david lynch’s work overflows with a love of humanity and he conveyed the feeling that truly every single person matters better than any artist i can think of. we are so lucky to have the work that we have.

hero worship has nothing to do with anything gaiman did. the only kind of special treatment that meaningfully helped him hurt people came from his peers or aspiring peers. the only protection that can shield him will come from those same people, and from lawyers. sad fans aren’t in it. not relevant!

I wrote about Hawk Tuah, crypto scams, Hildegard of Bingen, and the return of the repressed for Pornhub

i take prenatal vitamins bc they work best for me but the jar i have right now is fragranced which i have never seen before. is this an anti-nausea thing? very odd.

if you're doing clarissa 2025 u gotta follow stephanie

If you forgot to start reading Clarissa (😂), there will be plenty of time to catch up. But don’t skip Richardson’s preface. He changed it a lot across the editions but all versions are keen to manage reader expectations from the drop. He wants to control our reading of the characters and lessons.

today i in fact scored two long-sought TS records… lover live from paris… folklore long pond studio sessions… tayblessings abound

something that is sweet about boswell is that if i'm not feeling well he wants to hang out with me, and something that is annoying about boswell is that sometimes he gets really bored and is like "why aren't you doing something interesting"
