Legitimately a bummer. She was a staple of the Bears and the NFL for almost literally a century. Sad to see her go out without a Super Bowl in 40 years, or a playoff win in 15. I know there's frustration with the Bears ownership, but the reality is we lost a piece of history today.

Now, why Eberflus HAD to take over for Alan Williams, his own hire who unceremoniously and mysteriously vanished 3 weeks into the 2023 season is a whole other story, and one of the many points of evidence of why Eberflus is a very bad head coach, but the point stands - good DC.

Not sure what to think of the report that the Colts were going to fire him, and obviously as a HC he was maybe the worst the Bears have had in my lifetime, but the reality is Eberflus IS a good DC. The Bears D got noticeably better when he took over for Alan Williams.

Poor, poor sweet Lions fans, coping with a window violently shutting on their fingers. I'm sorry, NFCN friends, I've been there

For the bluesky folks, listen to our end-of-season sendoff on why there's so much reason to be excited about the hire of Ben Johnson, and why while there are legitimate reasons of concern, ultimately it was 100% the right move: open.spotify.com/episode/2Ug3...

Like a lot of young hotshot OCs, the new offense thrived to start the first season when the NFL hadn't seen the playbook before. As the NFL adapted, injuries piled up, and the lack of details took effect, the offense got really ugly. Think it's more nuanced than "Slowik = bad" but need improvement

screw it, Slowik as OC

Caleb Williams was a huge factor in Ben Johnson picking the Bears. As he should be.

ICYMI: Bears finished #1. Ben Johnson agrees!

Looks like some new folks are here....welcome! This is my starter pack of NFL follows (I add to it all the time, so even if you subscribe, re-sub): go.bsky.app/8RH6KbH And here's a list if you'd rather just make a feed: bsky.app/profile/did:...

Totally get the hype of Ben Johnson, but man I’m just not sold on him as a head coach. McVay and Shanahan are the anomalies, most great HCs succeed because they’re great in-game minds and leader of men during camp and practice.

Andy Reid: “darn it, Kelce, you can’t keep doing these laterals! It an unnecessary risk!” Kelce: “coach, to ask me to give them up would be akin to asking you to give up cheeseburgers” Andy Reid, tears beginning to stream down his face “never give up, son”

Firing Eberflus was the right move, but doing it this late in the season, let alone almost a full season too late, shows how mismanaged the team is. Now you trot the coach out the morning after thanksgiving to say “everything’s fine” only to fire him an hour later? Just awful process.

Hearing from a source that, with 30 mins until Eberflus’ press conference, he’s currently lost in Halas Hall and wandering around. Per a player: “he had us carry him all the way to the door? It was weird” Still, despite being carried by his players to the finish, he’s lost.

well i think that matt eberflus is the best football coach in the whole world

Eberflus gonna survive the day?

Being at the game and seeing this made me believe I forgot about the insurmountable force of Matt Eberflus, my critical mistake

Screw it, last drive of the game Caleb Williams thread 1st down at our own 30, 3:00 left 11 personnel, shotgun, clearly expected man and got cover-2. Pass catchers all basically run to meet defenders at their zones and sit Should've hit Roschon on the swing pass, instead Caleb's confused, sack

Would've said that throw to Kmet was the best throw of Caleb's career if not for the 4th down game-on-the-line backshoulder to Rome against the blitz to convert. Awesome stuff.

Hoge and Jahns is for sure the best podcast because you just learn so much
