Does this mean my main man, John Rae, will be released from carbonate soon?

Thank you for putting this into words so succinctly.

The Tainted Cup by Robert Jackson Bennet - it’s a murder mystery in a fantasy bureaucratic empire world where altered plants are used for everything including buildings. It’s so detailed and gorgeous with a genius/mad detective and her inexperienced/confused assistant. Simply stunning.

In a little bit of serendipity I saw this after returning from a walk around Hanwell Community Centre, previously Central London District School, where Chaplin was sent in 1896 while his mother was in Newington workhouse.

I’ve always loved that Dogmatix in Asterix is a better pun than Idéfix in the original French.

I think it’s particularly French. There was certainly a French place in Covent Garden in the 90s that had a huge curved lead covered bar.

It’s a lovely piece but I do think the dusty library/archive trope needs to die a death.

Basically real art made by real artists is good and necessary.

I did this walk last year and it’s a lot of witchy fun with actual accurate London history. You may or may not invoke the Goddess.

Anyway, a very enjoyable film clearly made with (yes, I’m going to say it) a whole lot of love.

Beloved turned to me during a particularly blistering and unhinged Jimmy Page solo in Dazed and Confused to say, “ I’d like to see Chalamet try that…!”

That last post was very confused about dates. I was too enraged by the ghastly kids to be coherent.

I absolutely hated this in the 70s which seemed to be always on the telly in the 80s. Urgh. Twerps both.

I had to read it at university. I just read the synopsis again before James to remind myself. But, yes, he is an annoying little twerp.

I didn’t find him today. There are lots of illegible and broken headstones all higgledy piggledy. However I did find some lovely snowdrops.

I’m just glad to see some proper recognition for 2007 Northanger Abbey. Of course you are right that no one pierces our collective souls like Amanda Root and Ciaran Hinds.
