I sit on the mental health advisory board for a local university. We are currently on a call to figure out how to support students who might be targeted by ICE and the broader student body with *everything.* The vibe is “we can’t do enough” and I’m HERE FOR IT.

Snow day tomorrow. I need suggestions for a fun read to motivate me to get work done in the morning.

I’ve been thinking a lot about how to bring the podcast back. The amount of anxiety we are all feeling about *everything* - it’s time for some spiritual practices to keep us grounded as we stand up for what’s right. For now, deep breaths, friends. And call your representatives.

People fighting about how to boycott. People fighting about what to do regarding ICE. People fighting about liberal vs leftist approaches. Our devotion to the binary is deepening our collective inability to challenge those in power.

First they came for the immigrants, and I spoke out, because I’ve read the damn poem before and I know how it ends.

The first draft of my manuscript is due in a few days, so I am [fill in the blank].

Where are we getting new nose rings these days?

Sometimes grief shows up as tears. And sometimes it manifests as the type of exhaustion where no sleep will never be enough. It’s okay to be affected by loss. Be gentle with yourself.

10 years ago I “celebrated” NYE in my husbands hospital room, 8.5 months pregnant. We slept through the nursing staff handing out cups of sparkling apple juice and definitely didn’t see fireworks. We also didn’t see that in five days I’d be leaving the hospital a widow.

I read a lot - at least one each of a paper book, ebook, and audiobook going at one time. And I love making book recommendations and giving books as gifts. Need a new book? Comment below and I'll give you at least one idea.

I started my first blog fall 2008. I began calling myself a writer and writing in earnest in 2015ish. 10 years of querying agents and, once I’d found an agent, shopping books to publishers & the first draft of my first book is due in a month. I’m so grateful it never worked out until now.

Healing isn't a solo journey—it's a collective process, where we rise together or remain broken apart. We heal best when we lean on others, because individual struggles are soothed by shared strength. So, in the words of Maya Angelou, “As soon as healing takes place, go out and heal somebody else.”

Dreaming of my goals for 2025 and I need your input! If you've spent any amount of time following my work, would you take 2 minutes to fill out this survey? docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...

What are your favorite stories about travel or pilgrimage? Could be something specific or zeitgeisty (Pilgrims Progress, etc.).

Finally saw the Wicked movie. A little disappointed - was hoping for a no fly show.

Looking for the perfect gift for the griever in your life? Here are 20 suggestions: BeckyLMcCoy.com/Holiday-Gift-Guide

I really love a good Bossa Nova.

Have you ever been on a pilgrimage? It could be to a place significant to your faith or a cultural site that is meaningful to you in some way. I’d love to hear about it!

Come be my friend for the musical theater, reading, and hammocking on chilly fall days. Stay for the long-covid, RA, and late-diagnosed ADHD. And some spiritual practices for grief, mental illness, and burnout - as a treat.

Haven’t been here in awhile. Been hanging out on threads but giving this another try.

shhhh…I’m here now. Everything is going to be okay.
