Reflections on emotional overcontrol: Apparently most people don't feel sick and angry when watching Christmas specials. To me, watching A Charlie Brown Christmas or Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer or even sitcom Christmas specials feels like having my skin slowly removed with a potato peeler.

My new diagnosis is kind of funny given the debut of the Murderbot show and the Murderbot re-read I've been doing. My new diagnosis (or at least current problem to work on) is emotional overcontrol, which-- I mean, yeah, it me? And also Murderbot. Thus funny.

This means I keep my multidisciplinary team, access to all the training and any therapeutic courses they think are relevant, medication support, and I'm starting weekly meetings with a therapist next week. I just don't have to sleep in an uncomfortable bed with a bright green LED giving me rage.

For each solid square, the quilting pattern will be a simple shape I draw (so far, a butterfly and a flower) with echo quilting around the image. For the patterned squares, I dunno yet!

Decided to quilt the quilt (egads that's clunky, is there a better way?) on a square-by-square basis, with the solid squares quilted in white so the contrast shows up on the top, and the patterned squares quilted in navy, so the contrast shows up on the back. Will it be good? Who knows! #quiltsky

My key line was “I’m used to doing things that make me anxious.” Clinical anxiety disorders assume the person is actively avoiding their anxiety triggers. Turns out being anxious all the time is a sign that the problem isn’t an anxiety disorder at all.
