There are two ways to make clouds: 1. introduce a source of vapor, or 2. introduce cooling to condense gases that are already present. Last night, we saw the second type when the rocket reached a sudden temperature drop at the top of the troposphere, and the water in the exhaust suddenly condensed.

Congratulations to all of the teams that worked hard for years for this send off to the Moon tonight! Go Lunar Trailblazer!

I am SO EXCITED to be attending a NASA launch today for Caltech JPL's Lunar Trailblazer!

My class rearranged the solar system as part of an ice breaker. Each person got to make one change. It was as pleasantly chaotic as I thought it would be.

It's important to find joy in small, everyday things. Like a home team win, and a free, new, tiny friend.

Vega, the Bald Eagle at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore was rescued the times before being deemed unreleasable. She has a neurological condition that makes it hard for her to fly, even though he wings are fine. I love her so much.

#AGU24 geologists, hardest question of the conference: what's your favorite rock or mineral?

Richard Cartwright did such a good build-up and reveal of the Uranian moon spectra on his last slide that I wanted to clap right then. 😂 #showmanship #AGU24

Dear planetary scientists of #AGU24, I've been working on a crowd-sourced handbook for students and early career scientists for the hidden curriculum, helpful tips, and best practices of our field. Please al check it out, and add to it if you can! github.com/belindathemo...

I found a very cool water bottle that looks like it must belong to an #AGU24 attendee. If you've lost yours, please find it at the lost and found!

Did I just commit myself to carrying around a roll of paper nearly half my height for the next 9 hours? Yes. Is it worth it for a *free* geological map poster of The Keystone State? Absolutely. #AGU24

I've only lived in Baltimore for 4 months, and already, I'm so tired of people telling me it's dangerous. There are dangers, but not from the people.

Lols from Paolo Cappuccio's (ESA) talk - JUICE confirms: Earth is habitable! #AGU24

Does anyone at #AGU24 study light pollution or its impacts on health?

Great talk by Bianca Corpuz on the health impact of extreme heat events in Baltimore. I'll add another reason why we should care about extreme heat in Baltimore: it's the third-largest majority Black city in the US - extreme heat events in Baltimore are a climate/social justice issue! #AGU24

Serious #AGU24 science from Bill McKinnon that also kind of funny - Saturn's moon Mimas might be a little bit hollow. Imagine: a sailor on the Mimas ocean would gaze up at a celestial sphere of ice.

Jay Inslee tells #AGU24: “scientists have a lot more power than they think.” He recommends scientists should connect with their elected officials to help make a difference to address climate change and the clean energy transition. I couldn’t agree more!

If you're at #AGU24, #NOAA has an adorable therapy/outreach dog available for petting at their booth in the exhibition hall.

"The greatest trick the fossil fuel industry ever played was convincing us that the climate crisis is a suicide, rather than a homicide." - @nathanielstinnett.bsky.social #agu24

The poor souls who are staying at the Marriott Marquis for some other reason than #AGU24

Does anyone recommend any quick vegan-friendly lunch places around #AGU24?

#AGU24 check out the holiday market w food options and other fun things a little walk away at F St and 9th!

The puppies are so sleepy! #AGU24

#AGU24: take a break in the Be Well room when you're overwhelmed! Me, the second I get to the convention center: I'm overwhelmed.

This is Yuma. She's an amateur geologist. Brings home one carefully selected rock a day. For science. 13/10

No change in the *pecking order* as Hopkins wins 91 to 35 and goes 47-0 all time in their series against the owls

Speaking of birds, it's halftime at JHU women's basketball and the Bryn Mawr Owls have been absolutely *mobbed* by the Blue Jays

TIL that ravens used to be common across all of North America, but had mostly disappeared from the east coast by 1900. But recently, they've been expanding their range east again.

Hello, bluesky. Sorry I'm late. What did I miss?
