World hunger is a complex problem. One direction to explore is to stop feeding cows and feed people instead. Cows burn far more calories than they provide as food. Substitute more plant protein for animal protein, feed people not cows and voila, fewer people die of starvation

The problem of feeding pigs or feeding people is how the whole “pigs are bad” thing started in the Middle East. India figured out if you stop eating cows, you can get a lot more calories from them with milk. Ever heard of Marvin Harris? Cows, Pigs, Wars and Witches. Go read that and think a bit

This sums up what for me is a central problem with moving to a universal healthcare system. Countries that have this started that way. We did not. Now we have a massive health insurance industry. I do not see a path from that established system to a universal healthcare system. Just pondering
