My field is analysis & evaluation OF the other fields. Even w/ tons of positive progress, I’d never just “expect” that in 42 years.
1. Too damn many years; shift is VERY recent. My own diag was 2019.
2. Depends a lot where someone is.
But it’s just a bad and wrong look to say doctors don’t care.

I’m a bioethicist and I just wanna say this isn’t exactly true or fair. It’s hard to shift academic bodies of work, but esp lately many are definitely trying. NPR has had SOOOOOO much very heartening autism coverage lately.

My brother and I are atypical but VERY ASD cases precisely BC our parents successfully trained or shamed a lot of salient symptoms out of us. My brother had multiple physical & verbal tics that became silent ones: he wore odd socks always, and 2 watches. I was slow to READ, then unstoppable.
