When this happens at scale, it’s not just bad information, it’s a breakdown in how society makes decisions. We lose the ability to deliberate, to find common ground, to hold anyone accountable. That’s what disordered discourse really is, a collapse in collective reasoning.

One pharmacist told me they’re getting small quantities of the short acting Ritalin once per week, so if I get in early enough, calling at a specific time of the week, I might be able to get one put aside for me.

Now: ring around a bunch of chemists 5 days away from running out only to be told by ALL of them that they are out of stock until September.

Normal times: Only a month’s supply is permitted to be purchased at any time and you can’t fill a repeat script until 21 days after the last one, leaving a short window to engage the requisite executive functioning skills to go to the chemist before you run out.
