The notion that Trump's "I'm king" tweet is "just trolling" or "a joke" presents an opportunity to recreate my just-joking thread (porting it over from the Bad Place): 1. I wrote my PhD dissertation on the social function of humor (in literature & film) and here's the thing about "just joking."

hello cis friends this is what people mean by trans genocide if a type of person does not officially exist, then any harm against them cannot be measured or reported this headline change isn't even being caused by an executive order it's simply the NYT editors deciding we don't deserve to exist

Part of the reason I'm opening up Primacy for art submissions is that I'm trying to find new ways to engage with artists to help stem the flow of the abomination that is AI art. We are committed to never using it, but there needs to be a new way forward. coyoteandcrow.net/2022/12/27/a...

“I’m okay with erasing people from existence because pronouns make me uncomfortable” is a pretty wild take.

“Well but surely you can agree we could restrict trans care for imprisoned criminals” No. Transition is not a luxury its a goddamn human right and to deny it is torture

Who’s up for a game of ADHD&D? We’ll be playing for the next 78 hours

I'm glad that America is doing real classic end of empire stuff. A king who is visibly losing his mind declaring a war based on a dream he had. Greedy courtiers feuding over access to the treasury. Some looks are timeless.

Is TikTok safe to check out now that all the Americans are gone?

When the mayor gives eleven-year-old Sarah a box with a tiny man on it, she sets out on a journey that will destroy the suburban complacency of her small town. Original fiction, originally published in Ravens in the Library.

We don’t fight evil with weapons of war on an individual level. We fight it with the things that give us joy. That’s how we beat back the Power Behind the Nothing. Yes we also dismantle systemic racism & take care of each other I vote that keeping space for our joy also stays part of the work

What do you call a chicken orgy? A cluckster-fuck

What would a doo-wop arrangement of 'Blue Christmas' and 'Fairytale of New York' sound like if sung by drunk snowmen? Now we know. I'm so so sorry.

While doing a live mix: “Please fade in: the hard cut makes Baby Jesus cry. See, that’s an audio joke AND a circumcision joke. Happy holidays!”

"Hey Ben, can you arrange a mash up of White Christmas and March of the Gladiators?" Don't ask questions you don't want answered!

Thousands of Amazon workers across 20 countries are going to protest or strike this Black Friday. Workers from the US to India to Brazil to Japan and beyond plan to take action to demand workers’ rights and climate action from the corporate giant. www.theguardian.com/business/202...

Trying to explain to people that I want explicit context and implicit content, rather than the reverse

One of my favorite collaborations ever!

Imma need some of you to think about thriving out of spite. I had big plans for 2025 and I’m definitely not gonna pre-derail them for likes of Elin and Tromp. I’m getting more involved. Loving harder. Writing hornier. Having more fun. I’m gonna be so kind to my neighbors, bitch.

As an Indian, as someone who lived in Egypt, and who has, modestly, remained committed to my politics despite that, here are my rules for living under fascist regimes: 1) Focus on organizational structure. 1/

As it had gone from the internet, I've posted The Beasts Who Fought For Fairyland, a story I wrote 8 years ago to explain the 2016 election to children, for free on both Patreon & Substack. It's not really just for children. www.patreon.com/posts/115615... catvalente.substack.com/p/the-beasts...

As the incoming Trump administration prepares for an unceasing onslaught on truth, I sincerely hope that Infowars becomes America’s new destination for radical truth telling, because 1) irony, and 2) America is going to need it.

It’s great to see so many personal friends joining BlueSky. While it can take a little time to learn how to use this platform effectively, I hope that you’ll stick around… and I’ll make an effort to post more often.

one of the reasons bluesky works differently is because early users waged a successful fight to get the devs to prioritize safety features to protect communities at risk as a result bluesky now has a suite of controls that i think are unmatched on social media here’s the list, lmk what i’ve missed

Listen, the point of a government is supposed to be to protect and provide for citizens. Our federal government hasn’t been doing that for a long time, so we need to strengthen the community-based social safety nets already in place. Or we need to look to other communities as models for change.

I hear we’re doing intro posts. I spent twenty years making film and game content for The Internet’s Ravenous Maw, then got burned out from the never ending onslaught of terrible people. Now I perform as a local musician, in person only, for small numbers of enthusiastic and kind people.
