Yeah I mean I don't think the majority of the court is operating in good faith, so if it was protecting their desired understanding of gun law, they'd make up a reason why it's different in that case.

the supreme court is, of course, captured by right wing ideologues, but this count comparison stuff is deeply misleading regardless. It's an effect of the structures of the court not judicial ideology
