BREAKING: Ontario has lost the 2025 provincial election

Hey GTA suburbs: the sea of blue in your ridings makes it clear how much you hate the city at the centre of your orbit; that makes your sprawling SUV led lives possible and gives you a modicum of culture and world renown. We all know when you travel you say you're from Toronto. Traitors.

Voted today. Hope everyone is in Ontario has too. What a gong show of an election though. Miserable weather, 3 days of advance voting. I didn't get a voter card, and when I showed up the workers didn't have me in the system at all (despite me residing and voting in Ontario for almost 20 years). 1/2

Wouldn't it be funny if it turned out the snake oil salesmen were right all along?

My top Super Bowl memory is when Musk tweeted “Go Eagles” in 2023 from the game and then deleted it after a similar tweet from Biden got more engagement. Then he flew to Twitter HQ and demanded his workers find out why his posts were doing poorly, starting a multi-day fact finding mission.

Rubio claims that @USAID lifesaving assistance for health and humanitarian needs will continue. But his team just communicated that the entire agency will be imminently reduced from 14,000 to 294 people. Just 12 in Africa.

A #ttc trauma we don't talk about enough is when you're running for the subway to get somewhere on time, and out of the corner of your eye you glimpse someone standing outside in a red smock with an "i" on it. <SHUDDERS>

Why does the main CBC.ca website homepage, look like something a kid with a free SquareSpace account made in 20 minutes?

Doug Ford’s Ontario Place plan will make traffic congestion worse: report. The redevelopment is projected to increase traffic volumes on Lake Shore Boulevard West as much as 40 per cent during major events, according to a staff report.

This study (coauthored by Wes Marshall) goes against the grain of US bike advocacy: "1 of every 2 bicyclists killed may have survived and 1 of every 3 seriously injured bicyclists may have been less seriously injured if wearing a helmet at the time of the collision." doi.org/10.1080/1745...

Can we all just agree that anyone –  ANYONE – driving a Cybertruck is an absolute dildo? Or is that disrespectful to sex toys?

Well this came about two years late, but I wish him good luck ... somewhere else. Can we lower that position's salary too? Obviously making it the highest paying public service job in Ontario was not the key to success given the various projects stuck in limbo. www.thestar.com/politics/pro...

This @nytimes.com article describes a horrific killing of a cyclist by an SUV driver in Paris, but the headline and aspects of the writing repeat anti-cyclist tropes. www.nytimes.com/2024/11/29/w...

Can we do away with ending emails and messages with the trite, "hope this helps?" I know it's probably mostly well-intended, but I cannot read it without my passive aggression detectors going off. Maybe I'm the problem, it's me?

Hey, we all love to hate on the trashy clickbait site that is BlogTO. But good lord, what were they on in the 2000s? This writing is just... something else. Florid does not began to describe this prose.

About last night... #CriticalMass youtu.be/36Zu8vWbmsM

AMAZING NEWS! The feds finally announced they will fund Line 2 replacement trains! Thank you to the thousands of hours of tireless work that transit advocates at orgs like @ttcriders.bsky.social & everyone that called MPs to fund transit. These things don't just happen. A thread on advocacy. (1/6)

It's stunning to me that 14 years into the ECLRT debacle, and 5 years after it was meant to open, Toronto's journalistic establishment has failed to find cracks in the no-comment armour of the PCs and Metrolinx. Failed to developed inside sources or leaks to reveal WTF is going on.

This bit in @torontostar.bsky.social story on Bill 212's anti-lawsuit provisions is confusing at best, but this part is probably the most relevant bit: basically none of it matters anyway, because Ontario's courts are nonfunctional.

The result of that one bike lane going in that the angry guy at the community meeting warned us about.
