When a liberal area suffers a climate change disaster, Republicans say “God is punishing them.” When a conservative area suffers a climate change disaster, Republicans say “Democrats control weather machines.” Must be hard going through life as a full-blown idiot.

These extraordinary photos of the LA fires have been shared widely on social media, often without crediting the photographer. These are all the work of Ethan Swope, an LA-based photojournalist working for AP. You can follow his remarkable reporting here👇 www.instagram.com/ethanswopeph...

They are taking back campaign promises faster than they made them.

The transition team’s response—yeah, this is what professionals are like. 😠

Getting foot surgery at the start of November sounded like a good idea. Surgery was less extensive than last year-surely I’d be back to normal by December. Right? Still in a boot. (Lose that on the 23rd.) My foot gets tired and sore quicker than I’d like. Christmas prep is nonexistent.

On that note: Trans authors (I mean authors who are trans, NOT cis people who write about trans people), drop your book links here and I'll try to repost as many as I can throughout the day. Cis people: Repost trans authors' book links. Cis people who want to complain about being excluded: gtfo

“Most of the assaults I have experienced,” I said, “were carried out by men I had known for years, who I had been alone with numerous times: my uncle, my college professor, my doctor. “They didn’t assault me,” I said, “until they did.” www.huffpost.com/entry/men-go...

So hey, because it’s my birthday, I thought it would be cool to raise funds for Kaleidoscope Youth Center, a place for LGBTQIA+ youth to belong. You already know about the fear and hate—come help youth have a safe place. www.facebook.com/share/1PNvmQ...

Happy birthday to me! Remember to be kind to everyone you meet and enjoy a cupcake today.

A what the fuck moment for today. 1. Violent Femmes are still alive? 2. With an orchestra????

I have 214.6K followers, and I figure at least some of them are looking to gift books this holiday season, so: HEY AUTHORS OF BLUESKY: In the comments to this post, tell us (briefly!) about your most recent book, and put in a link to where people can learn more and/or buy the book in question. Go!

Let’s get back to this, shall we? Choose 20 books that have stayed with you or influenced you. One book per day for 20 days, in no particular order. No explanations, no reviews, just covers. Day 11 of 20: Dune, by Frank Herbert

Trump wants to cut the corporate tax rate to 15%. This would give... -The 5 largest banks a $4.1B tax cut -The 5 largest drug makers a $3.1B tax cut -The 5 largest US oil companies a $2.5B tax cut -The 5 largest grocery stores a $1.7B tax cut Some populist, huh?

The Ohio Supreme Court has nullified the $650 million judgement that multiple counties won against Big Pharma over the opioid crisis. The court ruled that the state's product liability law prohibits counties from bringing public nuisance claims against pharma corporations.

If you think about it, the very best books are really just extremely long spells that turn you into a different person for the rest of your life

Ewww…

This is legitimately terrifying.

The FL Department of Corrections is attempting to "reverse" the gender identity of transgender people in its custody, referring to trans identities as "short-term delusions" and withholding hormone therapy. Reviving psychiatric theories of the 1950s, they blame trans identities on "childhood trauma"

NEW: “Eat What You Kill” Hailed as a savior upon his arrival in Helena, Dr. Thomas C. Weiner became a favorite of patients and his hospital’s highest earner. As the myth surrounding the high-profile oncologist grew, so did the trail of patient harm and suspicious deaths. @davidmcswane.bsky.social

This is absolutely horrific.
