Every morning we wake up wondering if a Nazi who sweats cum and has the personality of a guy who was unanimously kicked out of his improv group has tried to destroy another government department while we were asleep.

Three things that make the U.S. the envy of the world: 1) Professionalized military with strong norm of civilian control 2) Higher education and cutting-edge scientific research 3) Ability to welcome immigrants and attract the “best and the brightest” All three are under threat.

How can we, as a society, know that every day across the country, French teachers have to tell adolescents that 19 is pronounced "Deez noonf" and still refuse to pay them less than $4,000,000 a year?

@makesomenoiseshow.bsky.social Was just putting our kid to bed with some Eric Carle, and @abigrrl.bsky.social and I started doing Take Some Direction with "Do you want to be my friend?" Could make a good prompt, @samreich.bsky.social !

Flow (2024) is my favorite #DND movie.

The Chinese have developed their own open-source Hawk Tuah meme coin and the rug pull only uses one-tenth of the computing power and scams 15x the number of horny victims.

Guys like joe rogan are funny because they still think smoking weed that they buy legally from places that look like an apple store makes them hunter s thompson

Last time, the oligarchs stuffed the useful idiot full of amphetamines. Dare we hope that this is the "...then as farce" phase? www.reddit.com/r/gifs/comme...

A thing that i believe about myself is that I'm the perfect amount of woke. If you're less woke than me you need to fix your heart and if you're more woke than me your friends and neighbors probably find you a little fatiguing

I really, really don't want to do this, but let's do a bit (just a LITTLE BIT) of fact checking about what Zuck said on the Joe Rogan podcast, because this is something I not only followed closely, but also spent time *talking to the actual people at Meta who dealt with this* which WAS NOT ZUCK.

The third time the tween boy trudged dejectedly from the checkout counter to put back a bottle of Prime, I had to use my privilege to intervene. Played the Charlie Brown disappointment music on my phone real loud.

Reading this while watching Bluey with the kid, and I barely registered the TV because of how hard it hit. Don't sleep on this one. www.propublica.org/article/ap3-...

Elon / Vivek MAGA backlash is in full swing. They should have remembered the old saying: Beware of geeks bearing grifts.

Me explaining my script to Hallmark execs: "It was never about PLAYING with the top. It was about the ANTICIPATION of the mud drying!"

OK but maybe it's time for the rulebook TO say that a dog can't play basketball.

Once upon a time, not the entire internet was 4chan. Only 4chan was 4chan, because everywhere else would kick you out for Doing 4chan in their spaces. It sounds utopian, but it is true.

Just finished watching WTF 101 by @mikewtrapp.bsky.social, and by far the most surprising thing I learned from it was the credit saying that Joe Brumm worked on it.

About the #PoliteDisagreementBots from @hankgreen.bsky.social's video: it seems bad actors believe progressive discourse can be reduced to a code of "problematize a stance until moot," or maybe just make the poster insecure enough to drop the case. I like to think we're not so easily flummoxed (1/2)

Sorry, my next two days are spoken for. www.npr.org/2024/12/04/g...

computer scientists: we have invented a virtual dumbass who is constantly wrong tech CEOs: let's add it to every product

I love how thoroughly Foucauldian theory has permeated our culture Also I hate it “For Apple employees, the Apple ecosystem is not a walled garden. It is a prison yard. A panopticon where employees, both on and off duty, are subject to Apple’s all-seeing eye" www.semafor.com/article/12/0...

damn that's crazy. i wish I was illiterate

(Axl Rose voice) Whoa oh oh, sweet Tom's O' Maine

Having a toddler is like living with a video game NPC. Little dudes running the same dialogue trees and subroutines over and over, and if anything bad happens to them, it’s definitely your fault.

I am the exact age that I got Facebook when it was only for people in college. It was awesome. Took about ten years to become unusable. And thus is the cycle of social media companies.

Was cooking dinner for my kid and muttered, "That is a paltry amount of cavatappi" with no one around to mock me, so I guess that's why I've joined Bluesky.
