I’d guess that as soon as you have an ESTA, you are being monitored, regardless of if you’ve manually entered social profiles

Nice! We should catch some kms sometime 🚲 I’m planning some (international) bike trips in the future, starting to look at bike bags etc

Yep, pretty much. Usually I’d write the animation, tweak and test it a bunch of times, then “tidy up” by adding a preference query.

ngl sometimes I've wanted to Send anyway out of spite for being interrupted by computer 😂

You ok?

Sheesh. Anyway—our place is fully electric everything now (no gas), it’s cheaper to run and has been a lot more comfortable to live in since

A water heat pump or a AC heat pump? Seems like a lot. I just did both water & AC for less than that (also, in AUD). Maybe time for a few quotes? Or… why is it so expensive?

I think I had this one, last one before iPhone. It was SO THIN en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony_Er...

Not sure if it’s the same one, but I had a Walkman branded phone that was super tiny and could play MP3s. At the time seemed like the coolest thing ever

I suspect that ARIA is usually left up to “the person who knows about that stuff” out of fear of making a mistake, ignorance, or plain ol’ laziness. Most teams I’ve encountered are lucky to have that one person, but too often they don’t exist at all 💀
comment in response to post
Of course this depends on the size/knowledge/maturity of the team working on it — but if you can’t trust your team to deliver on an agreed level of UI, then there’s other problems to solve

Proven in what sense? If you’re adding ARIA _for_ testing, then it’s probably not going to result in a good user outcome. If you’re using existing ARIA, (designed for users), there’s no reason (other than organisational failure) that test assertions would end up in a worse user result

I guess the larger issue is that there’s little consistency in approaches. I’ve seen a bit of everything, including xpath, the most cursed selector pattern ever

My take is that it’s better to use ARIA to drive interactions/find elements, but sometimes helpful to use a data attribute to verify when ARIA isn’t present or doesn’t quite fit

Counterpoint: deleting all your JS is almost always going to make the website faster 🙃

Poor things are stuck between a highway and new housing development. I wonder if they could potentially be relocated

Bluesky won’t be a serious website until they fix video compression

I know! I used to follow it back in the day.

People just can't stop talking about Temporal 😁 If there was an account to follow on BSky / Mastodon / LinkedIn, I would follow 🙇‍♂️
comment in response to post
Putting her ridiculous Temu comparison aside, if young people could AFFORD to buy quality Australian products, they would. Maybe we should cut those PETRO STATE subsidies and invest in local businesses instead 🙃

It’s so strange that you choose to spend your time taking pot shots at complete strangers. Go to therapy. Or just log off, no one wants this from you.

Eh it was a quick video, and I am no Tom Cruise

Well yeah, is isn’t my job and I have a back condition, so it was physically difficult for me. Did you get out on the wrong side of bed? Take a long walk etc.

Yes we have those! Great upgrade, everyone should get those. We’ve already got some new marks in the hallway (100yr old baltic pine 🥴) because it’s so soft, but the rear of the house is hard wood.

Their product design is some of the best in market anywhere. That tiny motor is so cool!

I’m sure they’re having a great time! Hang in there Melanie 🙇‍♂️

For the record I thought their take was SO uncharitable, and just anger wrapped confusion. People like this have rarely built, launched and sustained anything, or worked in a company. If they had, they’d understand. Par for the course.
